Nigeria polio vaccinators shot dead in Kano

Nine female polio vaccinators have been killed in two shootings at health centres in northern Nigeria, police have told the BBC.

In the first attack in Kano the polio vaccinators were shot dead by gunmen who drove up on a motor tricycle.

Thirty minutes later gunmen targeted a clinic outside Kano city as the vaccinators prepared to start work.

Some Nigerian Muslim leaders have previously opposed polio vaccinations, claiming they could cause infertility.

On Thursday, a controversial Islamic cleric spoke out against the polio vaccination campaign, telling people that new cases of polio were caused by contaminated medicine.

Such opposition is a major reason why Nigeria is one of just three countries where polio is still endemic.

Islamic barbarity raises its ugly rotten head again…I hope the world is outraged but I yet have to see it reported on the BBC.

WHAT???? and be accused of Islamophobia? Perish the thought! The BBC should be renamed as the IAC (Islam Apologist Channel)

This is horrible news. These crimes crystalize the Humanist’s problem with religion. People doing real good in the world are punished by ignorant believers.

‘Punished’ is an understatement. Slaughtered by fanatical religiots, perhaps?

National Public Radio in the US reported the gunmen were “radical Islamists.”

Good, though a bit of an oxymoron- Islamist and Radical are interchangeable

  4. First Pakistan, now Nigeria. Also, am I the only one who has been worried about the string of Islamist uprisings and violence in the northern territories of Nigeria in the past few years? Call me Islamophobe or whatever but many of these people aren’t to be negotiated with…and a confrontation seems inevitable.

    Worried? errr…. just slightly!

    “confrontation seems inevitable”
And… the sooner the better; Europe has willingly ingested this toxin. Islamophobe (an Islamic invention, by the way) is now officially discredited and no longer used by responsible western media. I know the following link is extreme but the proposal has been given serious consideration by US military and it is horrifying-

This isn’t radical Islam, it’s proper Islam. The radicals are the peaceful ones. Thankfully there are more radicals than not.
_ As Sam Harris said, the problem is not Islamic fundamentalism but the fundamentals of Islam.

This morality has been debated before. The decision to use atomic weapons on Japan was in part justified on the premsie that ultimately it would save lives. There was grave concern that trying to storm Japan would have taken a very long time and costs millions of lives.

I think Sam Harris also discussed whether it was reasonable or even defensible to make a pre-emptive strike.
So what will it be then, procrastinate and hope the ‘islamists’ will get bored or become sensible, procrastinate and flush the planet down the latrine of islamisation for several millenia or something so severe that it would put the lid on it for all time?
