Is the JW player from the stone age? Other videos run fine but this one keeps buffering,….

The file is huge! Left it running last night with rtmpdump capturing just a few frames every minute or so, but I see now that it timed out after about a gig.

Please can we have a http link that’s resumable?

      • It’s 1 GB. Apologies for the large file, we’ll post smaller ones in the future.

          Thanks! I’ll watch it then.

That’s OK. I don’t mind the size so much as the player and the RTMP protocol. Prefer to download and watch on my own player off line.

Prof Dawkins is in fine form.

Yes, he is comfortable here in the Bible Belt, confident that with people like Silverman around things are slowly changing. Loved Sean’s pantheon of S.C. politicians too.

  1. Can someone at RDFRS do us a favour and upload the videos to youtube and then embed them here? JW Player performs so horribly that I would rather listen to an hour and a half of nails on a chalkboard.

    • can you try to watch it again? we tried something that may have improved quality, but need to verify.

  2. That was bloody brilliant, enjoyed it thoroughly! Richard covered just about everything and raised many points that are especially important to me. It was also very satisfying to see such a large and enthusiastic audience. Well done! I hope everyone watches this.

  3. The video is practically unwatchable. JW Player is buffering every few seconds. Is this video on YouTube anywhere by any chance? Searching on “Richard Dawkins Herb Silverman Charleston” unfortunately produced no results. :(

      Here’s a torrent

Thanks for the torrent, the JW player is a pain and I too like to download videos straight to hard-drives because it’s easier on the buffering and my internet connection makes it costly to just one-shot download stuff and lose it afterwards.
However, the torrent is very slow as well! Started downloading almost a week ago and it’s been stalled at 64% for the last two days.

Sorry for the late reply, failed to spot your comment. How’s it going? Know I have a very slow connection, but I’ve been seeding continuously and will continue to do so until it is well seeded.

Yes, thank you, it downloaded just fine! I’ll also continue seeding for a while, in case people are having trouble with the youtube version.

  4. A) I loved the talk- also, Richard D.and Herb S. compliment each other well.

    B) I’m pretty computer tech challenged, but I had zero problems and zero buffering while watching the entire thing on JW Player (whatever the heck that even is!).
