  1. The message really ought not to be diminished by the medium or the messenger. But we live in the 21stC — with a million other things competing for our attention — so the medium and the messenger are important.

    The medium, or production value, used in these Road to Reason vlogs is such poor quality — I’m thinking of the overly-busy background medieval-looking map thing in particular, and the peculiar, overexposed lighting — that I can barely bring myself to watch them.

    And I haven’t event started on the often stilted delivery by the presenters!

    The whole thing looks stiff, dark, drab, washed out, like some TDK video from the 1980s.

    Suggestion: redesign the studio and work on lighting and delivery (and get rid of that distracting sweater/jumper!!).

    Or: take the discussion “on the road,” where there is some decent light and movement, as RD did with his series of “standing up” interviews with Pinker et al.

    P.s. I know these criticisms have been made before; I just think they are worth repeating.

      Must be a cultural thing. I love the jumper. And the low budget look.
