Controversial gay activist and columnist Dan Savage was recently given an honor by a Wisconsin-based atheist organization at a convention held over the weekend.

The Freedom From Religion Foundation gave Savage their "Emperor Has No Clothes Award" for his expressed views on religion.

FFRF Co-President Dan Barker told The Christian Post in an interview last week that Savage receiving the honor both for his views on religion and for his work with the anti-bullying campaign "It Gets Better."

"So we're giving him an award for being outspoken about religion, but also because we really are impressed that he's saving lives," said Barker.

"Whereas before, young men and some women who were conflicted over their sexual identity, some of them killed themselves. And I think what he's doing – his concern, his care, his love for humanity to start this, is really worthy of recognition."

For any gay person the hatred of religion is personal and fiery. We want revenge. It is not just a matter of it being wrong.

In proportion to how destructive religion has been in history and continues to be to the lives of gays everywhere the fieriness of the hatred seems not sufficiently in evidence.

So, I did what his shirt told me to do…
      F$^king hilarious!!

Yep, it’s a classic. Just think, the Americans almost elected a man whose name means THAT as their president. What a missed opportunity for comedic gold! You can just imagine Santorum being met by foreign national leaders – “Good morning President Frothy Mixture, let’s hammer out that free trade agreement.”

It didn’t mean that until Dan Savage got his podcast listeners to create a new definition for the name “santorum”. That was the winner – they then flooded Google with keyword searches until it came up first for everyone, instead of the politician.

No, the other way round, a gay activist made his name mean that because of the vile things he said about being gay.

  1. So Dan Savage is a “bully” now for using words to ridicule the bible and people who take it literally? I wonder how many of these precious christians committed suicide over his unforgivable “bullying?”

  2. Santorum, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH…. Being from the sad sad state of Pennsylvania, and being aware of Santorum’s rhetoric, I applaud Dan Savage’s hilarious work.

The jokes on you, Santorum…. No NO No the santorum’s on YOU, joke!

  3. I think it would be nice to get news of this sort without the BS spin the christian post puts on it. I know we want to know what the other side is saying, but this would have been a feel-good story without the predictable lame attempts to call him a bully and label him controversial (as if fightig against religious bigotry is controversial to anyone but the bigots themselves).

  4. BTW, a really big joke is that Santorum does not live in Pa, yet was allowed to represent Pa. He has a 2 million dollar mansion in Virginia. He keeps a po box (or a small house) in Pa and pretends to live there.

He also filed for divorce in July of 2013. Aside from being “the gays” fault, according to Rick, I am wondering why his family didn’t stone him to death? Especially since it says it in that book he beats everyone over the head with.

    Santorum, indeed.
