Manifesto

We are non-believers, atheists and ex-Muslims of Scotland, were born as Muslims and being Muslim was decided for us even before our birth. As free human beings with power of intelligence and decision, we have decided to leave Islam.

As Islam does not permit us to leave it and Islamic law recognises apostasy as a crime punishable by death, we, ex Muslims living In Scotland aim to celebrate our right of freedom of speech and conscience and announce our apostasy as a public challenge. We also strive to represent numerous ex-Muslims who live in countries under Islamic law and are not able to announce their apostasy because doing so may mean execution and imprisonment.

In countries under Islamic law every matter of citizen’s life is regulated by religion. In countries like Iran, women are severely restricted by Islamic law and compulsory hijab, Children are legally abused, Education is mixed with religious teachings; academics are controlled by religious bodies, humans are being executed in the name of God, citizens can not criticise the governing body as doing so is considered as act against God and Islam, atheists and converts are punished with the death penalty, sexual behaviours marked as un-Islamic like adultery and homosexuality are punished by stoning and hanging.

Therefore, we ex-Muslims of Scotland, an affiliation of the Council of ex-Muslims of Britain demand:

  • Universal rights and equal citizenship for all. We are opposed to cultural relativism and the tolerance of inhuman beliefs, discrimination and abuse in the name of respecting religion or culture.
  • Freedom to criticise religion. Prohibition of restrictions on unconditional freedom of criticism and expression using so-called religious ‘sanctities’.
  • Freedom of religion and atheism.
  • Separation of religion from the state and legal and educational system.
  • Prohibition of religious customs, rules, ceremonies or activities that are incompatible with or infringe people’s rights and freedoms.
  • Abolition of all restrictive and repressive cultural and religious customs which hinder and contradict woman’s independence, free will and equality. Prohibition of segregation of sexes.
  • Prohibition of interference by any authority, family members or relatives, or official authorities in the private lives of women and men and their personal, emotional and sexual relationships and sexuality.
  • Protection of children from manipulation and abuse by religion and religious institutions.
  • Prohibition of any kind of financial, material or moral support by the state or state institutions to religion and religious activities and institutions.
  • Prohibition of all forms of religious intimidation and threats.

  1. They won’t just go to Hell when they die (like Xtains), but will be murdered to make the trip immediate. No wonder they have such low attrition rates. Glad to see groups like this showing signs of rational behavior. This could be the start of something BIG!

  2. The more of these people the merrier and a dream of progress!
They may of course be murder victims;and if they are ?then murder for apostasy should be publically condemned.
It’s amazing that only people like RD and Pat Condell have the courage to make such an obvious statement of morality!

  3. Kudos for your bravery to stand up to the blight of islam. Your bravery in the face of the punishment for apostasy needs to be publicly recognized. The fact you have provided an organization for like minded (ex) members of your (ex) faith will hopefully encourage many others to stand up and be counted. Wishing you great success! jcw

  4. Oh, Bravo!

Recently, I have been reading a couple books about the lives of Muslim women. What these poor women have to put up with, is dreadful. The strictures imposed on them by this ghastly religion beggars belief.

I am so glad that these brave people are standing up to blatant tyranny. The shocking thing is that what they ask for is actually the right of every human being.

All the best to them in this brave endeavour.

  5. No doubt the Grand Imam of Stornaway will issue a fatwah against these renegade apostates. The sentence of death to be carried out by pelting with fried Mars bars !

Oooo and enough lovely water in Scotland to make all those desert Muslims jealous ! And it all comes for free from out of the sky ! Blessed be the rain makers.

  6. Bravo . Live long and prosper CEMB. Ex-muslims need an organization like yours. They need an environment in which to express themselves and lead their lives freely without fear of reprisal from fundamentalist nutcases. Good job!

  7. Excellent news! I know Bath Street well, good location. (I’m a Westender.)
And as you can see from my avatar, albeit in another historical context, I regard the word ‘Apostate’ as a badge of honour, worn as it was by a good and courageous young man.

  8. Do make sure that at least Obama, Cameron, and the Prime Minister of Australia (Tony Abbott) get to read your list of demands!! No child should ever be subjected to any form of indoctrination. No public money should ever find its way to religion-based schools. Great work. May this virus infect the planet.

  9. Congratulations gals and guys. What kind of religion is that, that treats its followers like criminal gangs treat their members? I hope organizations similar to yours keep springing up everywhere on the planet soon enough.
