28th Jan 2008 : A question that interests me very much (and always has) is this: I know that I do not believe in either any god or any religion, and I can give my reasons in a manner that the other side can at least understand, but can the same be said for those who claim that they do believe? A shorter way of putting this is to ask whether our antagonists in this ancient argument truly mean what they appear to say.

28th Jan 2008 : A lot has been written about a group of recent best-selling authors that, back in November 2006, Wired Magazine dubbed "the new atheists". We atheists have served honorably throughout history and still do today. We serve in foxholes, on planes, on ships, and in the service and defense of our values wherever that service may require us. We will ensure that our story is told. We need your help. Make your submission here. The information below should answer questions you may have.

23rd Jan 2008 : Many who support the separation of church and state say that the intelligent design theory of creation ought not to be taught in public schools because it contains a religious bias. They dislike its suggestion that the evolutionary development of life was not the result of natural selection, as Charles Darwin suggested, but was somehow given purposeful direction and, by implication, was guided by God.

22nd Jan 2008 : Don't get me wrong, I'm all for turning my tap water into alcohol and a never ending food basket, but I'm tired of all these people whining and telling me how to live my life. You do your thing, I do my thing, we're all happy, but after reading that someone is paying Facebook to post a religious article titled "6 Reasons You Have To Believe In God", I figured I'd grab my own cross and at least have fun while getting ready to be crucified for having an opinion.

21st Jan 2008 : I am a little baffled as to why it is called the "New Atheism." There is a very long tradition of free thinking, and the arguments made against religion tend to be the same but made over and over again. But I think what has happened is that there have been a number of good, articulate books--Hitchens, Dawkins, Dennett, Sam Harris, and so on. What they have discovered to their own great surprise is that in the United States, and right across the South too, there are an enormous number of people who also think this way.

20th Jan 2008 : Jan. 11 - Flush with last year's success in passing H.Res. 847, "Recognizing the importance of Christmas and the Christian Faith," Christian nationalists -- those who would have the United States be governed as a Christian theocracy -- are pushing H.Res. 888, another resolution which promotes a false and distorted Christian nation reinterpretation of our history. Generally, we do not take action regarding resolutions because they are ceremonial in nature and express the non-binding opinion of one chamber. They do not have the force of law.
