If not already done, TGD should be translated into Arabic and copies by the millions air dropped over the entire Muslim world...for a start.4. Comment #49736 by PeterK on June 13, 2007 at 7:37 am

The translation appears to be word for word. But then again you lose stuff when you translate. It's hard to feel Richard's voice while I was reading it. But better the book out in all languages with its main message intact, and the loss of Richard's sense of style (even without TGD he's one of the best science writers in the world) would be a small price to pay.9. I liked the translation very much. Being a Bangladeshi staying abroad for more than 12 years, I must say that it's rare to find good literature on freethinking, atheism, humanism and evolution in Bengali. It's really pleasing to see some eminent groups are trying to promote freethinking while suffocating environment is still prevailing in the country.10. That's so encouraging, as I am also trying to translate into Arabic some of these great books that I managed to get recently. And believe me, sornord, if I had a plane, I would drop the translation over every inch of the Arab world, because they surely need it.

But seriously, I think this is great. I hope more of these books get translated into Asian (and other) languages, such as Mandarin, Cantonese, Sinhalese and Hindi etc. The Christian and Islamic missionaries have had such a headstart in spreading their ideas across the world and it would be a shame if the works of Richard Dawkins et al are limited to circulate only within Western nations. A large proportion of Indians and Chinese whom I've met are sitting right at the level of religiosity that Richard would like - considering themselves vaguely religious but unlikely to be offended by having their beliefs challenged.
