IIRC, this ran during the Super Bowl a few years ago. Which is ironic, as the game is played mostly by Neanderthals....

I keed.

avatarLOL - good one - that should upset a few fundies. Guinness ads have often been good and thought provoking.

Actually, I *think* it was Guinness he was talking about, or it may just have been alchol generally, but that loveable cuddly preacher from Northern Ireland, the Rev Ian Paisley once referred to it as the "Devils buttermilk"

:-)

LOL I think you are right.

He also thinks Cinemas are evil, and sing hymns on the podium when they are reading out the election results *sigh*

 avatarLuthien

Speaking of such "Evil cinemas" nonsense and other such Talibanesque lunacy,I heard a wonderful joke:

Q: Why do Calvinists object to sex standing up?
A: It might lead to dancing.....

(And there was a great advert for Glenfiddich a few years ago - an unbelievably stern looking elderly couple in front of a croft house,(obviously dyed in the wool calvinists) with the comment "Two sure ways to Hell: dancing and Glenfiddich"

Absolutely classic!

I wonder what Mr Dawkins would think of this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z7Z82lm5oGQ

I'm sure he'd get a laugh out of the last 20 seconds.

I think Mr. Dawkins would point out that the Guinness advertisement somewhat misrepresented evolution as deliberately aimed at the drinking of beer.

However, does the brewing of yeast have some kind of universal truth to it? Do things like Guinness just have to be so? We cannot prove it, but I wouldn't be surprised if universal nourishment was everywhere.

Alan.

avatarone problem with watching this ad and that is it has made me very thristy and i have 2 hours to go before work is done. Though th elineage may be wrong to most believers they won't catch it but they will catch the evolving part :)

I meant I wondered what Mr Dawkins would think of the video that I linked to. It includes a completely new theory of what caused the big bang, and it ends with a mockery of the creationist debate. All within a minute. It's brilliant.

avatarThe ad is not bad unfortunately Guinness in the last decade has become shite. One thing they won't tell and that's the ingredients. They've even turned what used to be a fascinating tour of the brewery into a trot around an interpretive centre.
If you want real beer you've got to go to Germany.
(My grandfather is probably turning in his grave right now; he used to work in James's Gate as did my dad)

They should've had an evolutionary consultant but it was still funny.

Absolutely. Of course, I can't think of anything that DOESN'T make me want to drink beer.
