A jolly little song, but he's no Roy Zimmerman I am afraid. Still, I guess that is just a matter of taste, and it all helps.

Brilliant. Makes a nice change to see American actors involved in something other than their moronic cults. Yes that's you Cruise, Travolta et al.

avatarbwana ndege: Scientology can only be considered a cult if you think belief in an evil alien super-lord who tricked people into flying to earth on DC-8-like space ships to be killed with H-bombs and that those dead people's souls stick to you unless you pay lots of money is crazy. Lets give Tom Cruise a little more credit than that.

It's good to see that the 'Get Religion Out of Politics' crowd are getting pretty organised these days. I thought this was a very professionally done video with lots of class. I hope they do more like this.

avatarHeelaryarse! I would love to see a similarly well put together video for some of Roy Zimmerman's songs. That would be great!

I love how much fun they are having with it. The correct response to those who want to institutionalise their fantasies is to laugh in their faces.

As hideous, insidious and enraging as this issue is, videos like this remind us that if we all refuse to take it seriously, it can't hurt us. Like a playground bully, strip these people of their credibility and they have no power over us.

It's great work. A bit tortured in places, but rhyming 'agenda' with 'pudenda' and 'maybe ya' with 'Saudi Arabia' are acts of genius. And it reminds us that it's OK to take the piss.

avatarI thought Abe was a Christian. Did he[edit: the author of the song] consider Christian based diests non-christian?

No - it's a misprint in your source. He thought Christian based diets non-christian.

He wasn't generally in favour of cannibalism.

avatarI meant the author of the song when he gave the list of non-christian founding fathers. I believe that Thomas Jefferson was something of a diest but still looked through the Bible (and crossed out phrases he didn't like:) ).

I don't think that many people are in favor of cannibalism. When I saw your comment I was worried I had made a typo. Luckily it was just a clarity issue.

Hello ladies & gents, thanks for responding to my video and to Mr. Dawkins for posting it.
The answer is no -- Abe Lincoln was not a Christian at all. In his congressional campaigns he said so. Jefferson did alter the New Testament, removing references to Jesus' miracles and divinity. I consider deists like Washington, Franklin, et al, since they don't believe Jesus is divine, to be non-Christian. They did respect him as a great moral teacher, but didn't believe he was God.
Jefferson was a Unitarian, who, as the name implies, believe in one God the creator, not like Trinitarian religions who have Father, Son, & Holy Spirit. Again, since Unitarians don't consider Jesus to be any more divine than you or I, I don't consider them Christian, which I certainly don't hold against them.
FYI I come from a Catholic background.
I only wish I had room in my song & video for Thomas Paine, another of the American Founding Fathers, who wrote "I do not believe in the creed professed by the Jewish church, by the Roman church, by the Greek church, by the Turkish church, by the Protestant church, nor by any church that I know of.... Each of those churches accuse the other of unbelief; and for my own part, I disbelieve them all."
Cheers!
Jay Spears

 avatarJay Spears,

Thank you for clarifying this for me. This will be great fuel against some of my friends who believe that the US is (or should be) a Christian nation. I think I'm going to include the Thomas Paine quote in my list of favorite quotes.

Oops I forgot to mention the Paine quote is from his Age of Reason, Part First, Section 1.

I did the same thing, and came out of it with a beautiful work. I am born-again!
The Holy Bible now reads: "In the beginning ... God ... loved ... thee ... and ... God ... loved ... me ... amen." Cherry picking saved my soul!
