Intelligent Design Film to Premiere at Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History Sept. 29
Intelligent Design Author Will Also Speak at OU
NORMAN, Okla., Sept. 14 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The debate over Darwin
rages on in America's heartland as intelligent design comes to the Sam Noble
Oklahoma Museum of Natural History September 29th with the Southwestern debut
of Darwin's Dilemma, a new film on the challenges to evolution in the fossil
record. To view a trailer and clips from the film please visit
www.darwinsdilemma.org.
Darwin's Dilemma will be screened at Kerr Auditorium in the Sam Noble Oklahoma
Museum of Natural History, with a post-film discussion featuring two leading
intelligent design scientists, Dr. Stephen C. Meyer, author of Signature in
the Cell, and Dr. Jonathan Wells, biologist and author of Icons of Evolution.
The film is sponsored by the University of Oklahoma IDEA (Intelligent Design
and Evolution Awareness) Club, as is an additional talk by Dr. Meyer, who will
present his new book Signature in the Cell: DNA and Evidence for Intelligent
Design in a free lecture on September 28th in Meacham Auditorium at University
of Oklahoma. In his new book, Dr. Meyer shows that the digital code embedded
in DNA powerfully points to a designing intelligence and helps unravel a
mystery that Darwin never addressed: how did the very first life begin?
Darwin's Dilemma explores one of the great mysteries in the history of life:
The sudden appearance of dozens of major complex animal types in the fossil
record without any trace of the gradual transitional steps predicted by
Darwin. Frequently described as "the Cambrian Explosion," the development of
these new animal types required a massive increase in genetic information.

Update 9/29 - Open Letter from DI
Greetings,
I am writing to alert you to an important, upcoming free lecture and film premiere.
The University of Oklahoma is no stranger to the debate over evolution and intelligent design (ID). In fact, it has become one of the most prominent places for speakers from both sides of the issue to visit and express their views. Last year notednbiologist Richard Dawkins visited the campus, and later leading ID advocate William Dembski debated prominent Darwinist Michael Ruse. Both events drew a lot of attention and gave students and members of the surrounding community a chance to hear from leading proponents on both sides of this important issue.
Next week, philosopher Elliot Sober will defend Darwinian evolution with a series of speeches on campus. Following that leading ID advocate and philosopher Stephen C. Meyer of the Discovery Institute will deliver a lecture in Meachem Hall on Sept. 28 about his new book, Signature In The Cell: DNA and the Evidence for Intelligent Design. Dr. Meyer will be joined the following night, Sept. 29th, by biologist Jonathan Wells, both of whom will participate in a discussion immediately following the screening of the new ID film Darwin´s Dilemma: The Mystery of the Cambrian Explosion in Kerr Auditorium at the Sam Noble Oklahoma Natural History Museum.
Having both sides of the debate represented on campus is a credit to the University of Oklahoma´s willingness to not shy away from controversial issues but instead embrace them with a spirit of open and civil discourse. I hope that you will encourage your students to attend Dr. Sober´s lecture, and the next week to attend the lecture by Dr. Meyer and the screening of Darwin´s Dilemma the following night.
Pleaselet your students know that they can get more information about these events, plus watch trailers and clips from the film,at www.darwinsdilemma.org and www.signatureinthecell.com.
Sincerely,
Robert Crowther
