avatarNice to hear an interviewer who doesn't ask the stupid questions, but unfortunately it means that there is nothing new here.

avatarA nice interview, with a friendly and sympathetic interviewer.
It's good to hear how well Richard has been received on this tour so far.

 avatarSally Luxmoore,

While Richard certainly may face some serious opposition, I think Americans are generally a kind people. I'm not surprised he's been well received.

Oh I wouldn't want to be misunderstood - in my experience Americans can be some of the kindest and most hospitable of people.
I was referring to the apparent lack of demonstrators and opponents.

 avatarSally,

Well, to be fair you didn't really imply it either. I just wanted to add my view and state I'm not surprised he's been well received.

I haven't met particularly many Americans, but most of them have been more kind than most, and far better than their reputation. I just wish they dropped their silly beliefs!

It was very jarring to hear the interviewer introduce himself, as I have an uncle by the same name (although this wasn't him).

This was a good interview and a pleasant one to listen to.

 avatar@BigJohn...
the Interviewer is a Radio DJ, thus being absorbed by his own voice is pretty much a given....

@BigJohn & Ohnhai

I thought that the interviewer was quite likeable, he did sound a little "babbley" but it did sound like it was in an attempt to try and sound cool and intelligent for Richard's benefit. Probably much the same as both of you would behave if either of you met him.

avatarI just noticed that TGSoE is now #8 on the NYT nonfiction hardcover list, which was put out on Oct.16. Glenn Beck's book is #2, but is that really nonfiction?

I don't see Palin's book there (now listed under fiction?). Amazon lowered the price of her book to $9 to compete with Walmart...you'd think there would be a jump.

What a great interview! It's nice to listen to an interview where the interviewer respects his guest and actually has real knowledge about the topics and issues his guest has been writing about.

I hear that Richard will be interviewed tomorrow (Oct. 20, 2009) on MPR (Minnesota Public Radio) 9 am Central US time. This is his second interview this year with host Kerri Miller. Last time I found her tone a little antagonistic.

avatarI dragged my wife to NY last night to see prof Dawkins at the kaufmann concert hall. It was wonderful to see Richard, and his talk was really interesting. At the end of the lecture questions were invited. I couldnt think of a decent question of course.and the ones that were asked were pretty lame...if i could only have come up with a " if allopolyploids were blah blah then what if....?" etc.
im seeing him again this thursday night in Philly NJ. if any one has an original question i would gladly wave my hand around madly and ask it for you...any ideas?

Could you ask him to change 'plausible' to 'certain' in TGSoE....in the paragraph about high atmospheric oxygen and insect gigantism. It's for my bank manager.

avatarThe interviewer certainly had a 'man crush on Richard'. I think the word count was 2-1 in the interviewer's favour.

@crusader234 Look, its bad enough we get a bum rap for eating babies, now you are saying we drag our wives around. ;)

Seriously though, you could ask the Prof does he get pissed off when in the Q&A section of his lectures, some people never ask a question, rather they make a statement about how he is wrong and they a right? WTF?

Or if they say, 'I'll make this quick ..." and they never are!

Ask Richard if he's gotten over the experience of being "interviewed" by Hugh Hewitt ;)

Enjoy, I saw Richard speak in Dublin a few weeks back, very enjoyable.

a question .... at least worth asking...

He has described Darwin as an invalid; he was certainly frequently unwell. You could ask him if anyone knows what illness Darwin was suffering from? I've often wondered! People quite often get retrospectively diagnosed nowadays.

If by any slim chance you ever hear an answer to this, please post it here!

Maybe you could ask him if he has had his own genome sequenced and if he therefore knows from his Y chromosome whether he's one of the millions of men apparently descended from Ghenghis Khan!

avatarRef: GOTT MIT UNS No. 34

Sorry, this is slightly off topic but I couldn't help but comment on #34's icon.

I had an original Gott Mit Uns (God is with us) belt buckle and it always amused me to think Hitler approved of this article of wear; especially for Hitler youth.

Don't all religious people think or wish God is on their side when in a conflict? It also reminds me of a Bob Dylan song which essentially alludes to the same thing. Wasn't God actually on our side in WWII?? Ha,Ha,Ha -- maybe that is not so funny. "Too many people have died" -- Bob Dylan.

 avatarDear Ricklend,
Great comment and ....a great concept of un-holy Trinity :-).

Personally I am a bit surprised that Richard Dawkins in his keynote addresses never usees this belt buckle to refute those shamelessly false allegations by the likes of Ben Stein and Dinesh de Sousa, who notoriously claim that the Nazism was an atheistic movement.
