I prefer to reason rather than believe. That's why I'm an atheist!

Is all well then in Pisa? Can we really count ourselves as one of the few secular cities in Italy? Well, let’s not joke about this too much; we are still the Bel Paese, after all, which is proud to host the Vatican and harbours many faithful followers even in the secular province of Tuscany. We felt a certain suspicion when we saw where our poster had been placed in Via De Ruggiero, a busy street that passes in front of two of the city’s biggest grocery stores – the COOP of Cisanello and PAM. The Pisa section of UAAR had explicitly chosen and paid for a billboard on the side of the street with no trees, i.e. on the opposite side to the one shown in the photo below, since we were all too aware of the stratagems that might be employed to block us and our atheist billboard. A charitable spirit undertook to put our poster in a most strategic position: on the side of the street that we had NOT chosen, and directly behind a tree in such a way as to completely hide the slogan from passing motorists. This despite the fact that a perfectly good, and perfectly free space was available, as the reader can see, just a few dozen metres further down the road, with no trees and therefore allowing a perfectly unhampered view of our poster! And evidently for this reason not appropriate for the purpose at hand.

The ways of the Lord, they say, are infinite, but will nevertheless not be able to hide ALL of the billboards that the UAAR of Pisa has posted around the city, bearing the motto: I prefer to reason rather than believe. That’s why I’m an atheist!
