I second that request. My internet radio is ready and waiting.

I'm listening to the show right now and I sympathise Richard. I was off to bed @ 11pm GMT now I have to stay up to listen too!
... I've not heard Ron mention the interview with you yet?! Boy this station is advert intensive.

 avatarGood luck Richard.

This Reagan sounds like a decent enough fellow so far - there is no love for Palin anyway... so that's a good sign. His current guest says: "the bigger the hair, the closer to god". Nice!

avatarWell. That was great! Nothing new for the regular readers of this site, but the interviewer was great (one of the dark side, no doubt). There is great contrast between this interview and some of the early interviews at the start of the tour (O'Reilly!).

Richard was very succinct and effective as usual.

avatarThanks for the link, Zzyx1170. I have the opposite problem as far as time zones are concerned -- when it's evening on the east coast, I'm still at work!

Considering the lateness of the hour, a very informative interview (even if we've heard it before). It might have been interesting if Richard had said something like, "When your father was governor of California, he called out the National Guard on the protestors at the university I was teaching at!" Ron probably would have apologized profusely on his behalf... ;-)

Kill the fly.
Julie, you heartless bitch! How could you suggest that fly's life be taken simply for Richard's comfort?! All life is sacred!

... kidding! I committed mass roach genocide in my kitchen yesterday and left their bodies around as a warning to the others. I will hunt and smash them mercilessly until they learn their lesson. I relish their pain. You gotta love living above a bodega.

avatarLucus, I just checked your profile to see if you are a fellow New Yorker. I knew you had to be, given your roach problem. Roaches love New York. I HATE ROACHES!!! Sometimes in the summer you can see them on the street, and they're even bigger than the ones that you'll get in your apartment... like 3 inches long. They're so hard to kill. You can't step on them, because then you'll spread the eggs that they carry on their backs. The only thing you can do is go after them with that Combat gel, sit back, and watch the little fuckers drop dead. ;)

Enough talk of "little fuckers"-- they are all God's bugs, Ha! Anyway, I am impressed that the Reagan genome could express itself in such a different manner in such a relatively short span of time. This itself is instructive I think.

Strangely, or perhaps not, that imagery was sufficient to make my day. Perhaps my days lack that je ne sais quoi? p.s. I also lived in NY and know the roach issue. (Although the little ones can be cute if you invest the effort in the relationship).

avatarFormer resident of Brooklyn here (Bensonhurst). Yes... roaches. I remember playing with my Shredder (TMNT) action figure, having him do some dance or something, and having Shredder accidentally squish a roach with his plastic foot (I was maybe 8?). That's how many roaches we had -- even the action figures would step on them.

And yeah they were the little ones -- the ones that like to live indoors and eat your food. By the way I think a vacuum cleaner is supposed to be pretty good at taking them out because the air current confuses their... ass sensor. I'm not an entomologist.

avatarI didn't grow up in Brooklyn; I grew up in a suburb outside of Philly and moved here 10 years ago to go to college... and I never left.

Once, when I was about 10, I swatted a fly. I hit it so hard that its guts went spilling out in the form of a brown gelatinous cube, and then I had the wonderful task of cleaning it up. It was so nasty that, to this day (I'm 29), I literally gag sometimes when I swat a fly (which is weird, because it usually takes a lot more than that to gross me out). That one incident has settled into a Pavlovian response, although it has lessened in intensity over the years.

Incidentally, I saw your website. Are you a comic book artist or an animator or something? Where do you live? We need to network...

I'm a software developer, and I do a bit of web and graphics design and photography on the side, along with too many other hobbies that I have no time for. Been in Columbus, OH since I was 10. Visited NYC just a month ago for a weekend (caught swine flu there I'm pretty sure, woohoo), actually. Brought back a few memories.

I'll add you to my MSN list.

Here I don't have many roaches to contend with, though a rather tenacious spider has taken up residence in my mailbox and refuses to leave. I may have to hose him out. Other than that it's the occasional HOUSE CENTIPEDE gwaaarrr! They're kind of harmless I guess but boy are they challenging to deal with! Here's a funny site I just found with a good account of the bastards: http://www-users.math.umd.edu/~schris/scutigera.shtml

avatarCentipedes are nothing like dealing with roaches. Roaches are relentless little buggers. My experience with centipedes (here or in PA) is that you see one at a time. Roaches on the other hand...

Heh, one time somebody I know found a centipede. She asked a guy to kill it. The guy farted at it and said, "There! I blew its brains out. It never knew what hit it!" :)

I have to admit, though, that it's funny when people freak out about insects. I worked at a camp this summer, and every single time-- without fail-- when the girls went in the shower, I could hear them screaming about the insects and spiders. One girl even cried every time (she was 14). They way they screamed, you'd think they were being disemboweled. If you're at a camp, you should expect to see-- and get used to seeing-- insects and spiders in the shower. At one point, I said something like, "When it comes to muscle power, don't you think you outdo the bug?" and I also said something like, "I'm sure these bugs would be glad to know that they're freaking out somebody who's that much bigger than they. They could take over the world!" I'm beginning to think that teenage girls screaming-- especially unnecessarily loudly-- is some kind of social ritual. ;)

Anyway now that you have my MSN handle, let's take this convo offline (you can shoot me an IM anytime) so we don't annoy other people. :)
