For those of you living in or around London, we bring news of the latest details of the Pope’s visit. I’ve written twice for this blog about the Pope’s disgusting actions (both of which can be found by following this link) and if you share the sentiment that all decent human beings would, then I encourage you to attend as many of these events as possible.
The main event is a march and rally taking place on 18th September. The protest will assemble at 1pm on Hyde Park Corner. It will then proceed through central London via Piccadilly, Piccadilly Circus, Haymarket, Trafalgar Square and Whitehall. At the arrival point, opposite Downing Street, on Richmond Terrace, there will be the final rally with speeches.
Tomorrow, there is a debate at the Conway Hall entitled “The Pope’s visit should not be a State visit” with Anthony Grayling and Peter Tatchell arguing for the motion. The event is free and doors open at 6.30 pm.
Other events include an evening of comedy and music, a film festival, a party and of course more protests. For all the details visit the Protest the Pope website

But the key thing to note in all these cases is that it is no longer just the religious who would inhibit our freedom of expression: increasingly, secular bodies are buying into this invidious idea too, all in the name of 'tolerance' or 'community relations' or 'respect'.
