avatarGreat speech. I loved his "big diamond" illustration. And I wish every religious believer would listen to this with an open mind. If they can find one, of course. :-)

avatarSam, great speech. I love the way you call all those Christians on thier irrational ideas. If everybody was more like you, the world would be a much better place.

He really is a very good public speaker. He should do more, or maybe just tape the ones he is doing.

Does anyone have any links to other talks he gives? All I can find on youtube is the beyond belief stuff!

avatarI've seen this one a while ago, it's the vid that's made me a Sam Harris fan, despite the misgivings I had (and still have) about his less than rigorous stance towards reincarnation and psychics.

I saw this video some time ago. It introduced me to the new atheist movement, even though I had been reading Dawkins' books since the 80s. It made me realise the desperate urgency of the need to fight back against the growth of religious influence.

Janus: I know his stance about some things is controversial, but he is an honest skeptic, and is prepared to subject things to scientific appraisal. Surely that is what matters.

No one can stick it to them as well as Sam. If you have a bittorrent client I can recommend this rendition of his standard speech as one of his best performances.

Watched some of the other interviews on Sam's website. The bias in the media is unreal. Sam is cut off and not given the same air time as a republican spin doctor! Its a horrible interview to watch. Think it was the MSNBC interview

avatarSam should add a new line to the 'diamond' story.

Skep: "So, you have a diamond the size of a washing machine buried in your yard?... OK: I'll bring the shovels, Let's Prove it!"

Dimondist:"No, need! I am content in my belief of it's existence... Praise the diamond!

nuff said!

Sam,you make us over here hope there is a progressive revolution rather than the regressionist one we hear about taking place in your country.
More power to you, stand up to the religo-fascists trying to control us!

This is the video that got me into Sam Harris, and thus into the New Atheism movement. What a great speech...

avatarwatch 11 minutes 54 seconds into the video

Sam talks about a quote from President Bush.
Common Sense Judges [further words] God

Common Sense & God within the same sentence?

I'm afraid my browser went strange trying to type my message, so i lost the video, and i need to get some sleep, so i can't wait for the video to reload

Anyway, Sam was making some real common sense points. Excellent Speech. Can't wait to listen to the rest of it tomorrow

Below is a link to a lengthy talk that he gave in New York.
This is the best speech of his that I have found. It's a lot of the same stuff but more in depth.

avatarIn agreement with Phil, this longer talk is so good that i played it to two of my friends who were religious moderates and they said having seen it, their deconversion is now inevitable.
