Update from Alexa Adams regarding Doctors without Borders

Our teams now count 3,400 aid workers (90% of whom are from Haiti). In the 2 months since the earthquake, they have treated over 54,000 patients and performed nearly 3,800 surgical operations. As the need for emergency surgery decreases, our teams are now focusing their efforts on post-operative care and mental health support. We are also doing some water and sanitation work and distributing shelters. There is a lot more information online including several videos, photoessays, and interviews aid workers and patients. http://www.dwb.org/news/article.cfm?id=4320&cat=field-news

At the same time, we continue to run vast programs in response to the conflicts in the Democratic Republic of Congo, South Sudan, and Somalia. And are just beginning a measles vaccination campaign in Chad and are monitoring cases of meningitis in Niger and Nigeria in case we have to start vaccinating. Nutrition and mother and child health also continue to be priorities.

Thank you again and the Richard Dawkins Foundation and your supporters for your commitment to our work. Your are helping us provide much needed medical care.

Kind regards,
Alexa
