From the political oppression of her childhood, to scientific emergence and fame to the tragedy that forced her into single motherhood as well as further world prominence, this is a story that reveals the tenacity of the human spirit and the allure of science. Two-hour (evening) program with intermission. Venue: National Museum of Health and Medicine FREE Event - Pre-registration Required Click Here for more information and to register
Friday, October 22 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM "Glowing Embryos, Genes and Development" This session, open to the public, will highlight seminal discoveries made by developmental biologists, including Nobel laureates Martin Chalfie and Eric Wieschaus, and their contributions to our understanding of basic biological principles occurring in all organisms. These studies provide insights that allow scientists to understand and ultimately devise treatments for diseases of development, such as birth defects and cancer.
