I'm amused by the title which attempts to give Missler credibility by calling him an engineer (but fails to mention he's a minister, although I'm sure that would be a plus for any audience that would accept his appalling pseudo-science). Seems like further confirmation of the Salem Hypothesis :-)

I had seen the banana video quite a while ago, but the peanut butter one was new to me.

My girlfriend was in the other room and she heard me laughing like a madman. She ran in and was trying to ask me what was so funny, and I absolutely could not speak from laughing so hard. I would try to catch my breath, but so many thoughts kept popping into my head that the more I would try to stop, the more I'd laugh. It's been 20 minutes and I'm still giggling.

I kept thinking of Christopher Hitchens: "It is impossible to distinguish creationist argument from creationist parody."

What I find most interesting is simply the idea of "an atheist's nightmare". The assumption is that atheists and theists are similarly emotionally attached to their beliefs about the existence of a supreme being. However, if I was confronted with undeniable proof of god's existence (something which these videos of course fail to accomplish) I would simply say, "Gosh. I guess I was wrong" and move on. I'm not devoted to the idea of a godless universe, it is just where the evidence has led me. Facts which contradict or disturb my beliefs about the world are not at all 'nightmares'. I wish the fundamentalists could approach the world with the same intellectual courage.

For example, every day I am cut up and annoyed by other arrogant road users who drive with no regard for others. As a one-time "believer" I was sad to be wrenched away from the comforting promises of religion by the cold hard truth of reality.
But the following year, for my tenth birthday my parents gave me a microscope with a "Discovery Kit", and I've never looked back.
But think how much easier it is to relinquish beliefs that tell you to look for proofs in a jar of (man-made) peanut butter! These guys are making atheism easier, not more difficult!

I've heard some of you describing this kind of film presentation as "shooting oneself in the foot".
As a football fan, I prefer to call them "own goals". Does everybody, both sides of the Atlantic, understand that?
I have invited the whole family, grandchildren included, to watch the Chuck Missler number.
You guys don't know how lucky you are - we only had Rowan'n'Martin, Benny Hill and Charlie Drake. With all these fundies around, you need never have a dull evening again!

By the way, I do know that Ray Comfort, on the HellboundAllee Show, did admit on air that the banana example wasn't right. On the show, Frank and Allee were actually able to show and convince him (at least apparently) that the banana is man made, through genetics, and not god made. People seem to forget, or not even know for that matter, that much of our food supply is the result of human tampering, not god tampering.

Except for peanut butter...I've always had my suspicions...
