The one thing I don't like about the Penn and Teller video is that they stated that Jesus most likely existed and mentioned Josephus as a reason for thinking that. Josephus wrote an account about Jesus 50 years after the "fact."
There were 42 historians alive from 1-35 AD, and not a contemporary word was written about the "Son of God"
I'm pretty certain that Paul made up Jesus around 50-55 AD and he made the story up based on the going myths of the time. He amalgamated them. He also had a receptive audience for the friendly God who offered life everlasting, because the vengeful God was turning a blind eye to the Jews as they were getting their asses kicked on earth by the Romans at the time.
Paul was the James Frey of 2000 years ago.
