What is a plant?

I attended an excellent training course in school, today. It was all about how children comprehend. One of the discussions was about how even on a seemingly basic level, children and teachers can have a different understanding. To illustrate this point, the tutor gave us the following activity:
What is a plant?
Daisy
Mushroom
Grass
Oak tree
Seaweed
Sea Anemone
Toadstool
From the list above, tick those you think are plants and say why.
I have to confess. I got this wrong. I was staggered and protested my case. But I think I now understand why. Am I the only one so thick at basic biology?!
