Ok, i have my opinion on this but would be interested to hear other people's from a site such as this and the fact that this site exists kind of answers the question, anyway.
Assuming that we live in an open, free and democratic society.
In an open, free and democratic society is it every citizens right to be NOT an informed and rational thinking participant?
We have certain beliefs that if someone believes differently we lock them up or even execute them, i.e. i don't believe in the notion of property and ownership - so i just take anything i want, or i don't believe that all lives are equal so i can kill people i don't like.
Yet we are free to believe God created the universe fully formed in 6 days as opposed to evolution. Free to believe in Santa Claus. Free to believe that dogs are better than cats...etc
Does it matter that someone should believe we are NOT all born equal? That some of us are favoured by God or even have pre-ordained rights to certain bits of land in the middle east?
Is the price of having freedom that people are free to believe 'dangerous' notions, or their right to be uninformed?
