Gillard won't play religion card
What an inspiring article this is. I am very happy Julia Gillard has 'come out' as an atheist and I look forward to seeing her positions on policy. It is a refreshing step in the right direction, but I was slightly annoyed that she tried to justify her beliefs to the religious, which I don't believe she has to do. All in all it is very inspiring but if we ever have any real progress in terms of policy because she is simply secular, this is harder to gauge. Sometimes people say "I'm X or I'm Y' but sometimes they don't turn out to be what you expected, much like two people who might be well educated have different political views. At this stage it looks like she might have more vision than former PM Rudd did which is a good thing and necessary in a leader in my opinion.
Looking forward to future announcements from Ms Gillard with cautious skepticism.
