Atheism and Religious symbols

I had an interesting experience the other day. A friend who is aware of my doubts about religion called me hypocrite for wearing a necklace with the Star of David on it.
I've had this necklace for several years now. It was a gift from my Bubbie (Grandmother) when I graduated from high school. When ever I miss her and feel sad that she's gone I put it on to feel close to her. I personally feel that is my right to wear whatever piece of jewelry I own (especially one that was a gift from someone I loved so dearly). I also have necklace that belonged to my grandmother with several Jewish and Israel symbols on it. She left that for me when she died and I cherish it so much.
I also have a tattoo with pagan symbols for life and the 3 stages of womanhood. I'm still very fond of my tattoo and even if I don't follow the religion the symbols are still meaningful and I appreciated what they are.
Do any of you still own jewelry or have tattoos etc with religious symbols on them? How do you feel about them?
