My family found out I'm a non-believer BEFORE MY PARENTS!

Some of my family found out I'm a non-believer BEFORE MY PARENTS!

I kid you not, I just had an hour conversation just a few minutes ago with one of my aunts (a hardcore Roman Catholic) and she along with my other aunts (5 all together) gave me a time frame to tell my parents before they will. I've kept my non-believe a secret for 8 years now simply because I knew my family will take it very badly, especially my father. I can only imagine how angry he will be.

Make no mistake, I didn't back down and will not back down for what I THINK. But it would be nice to have some words of comfort right about now. I will not be confronted in an intervention like setting and be talked down in a condescending manner like a common alcoholic or drug addict. I will stand up for myself and others like me.

Wish me luck guys... things are about to get very uncomfortable and upsetting for me. I can see now just by talking to my aunt that this isn't going to be easy. They're going to take it very hard and come down on me.

I WILL NOT BE TURNED!!!!

RIchardDawkins.net: There must be lots of us who have been through something like this. Does anyone have any good advice for HectorX82 on how to handle the conversation with his parents?
