I liken it to the consumption of alcohol. The more you try to stop a person from drinking, the more likely he/she will become an alcoholic

There will be a backlash. I work in Norway and I have seen numbers rise in the religious communities over the years. Religion here is more ingrained in people than they imagine. Its just not as virulent as elsewhere. N0rway is also very conservative and very tightly controlled. Sunday shopping is still a no go. And lets not forget that the last Prime Minister Kjell Magne Bøndvik is a Lutheran minister.
I would be curious to see if this will remain in place a I suspect the Government has alternative motives for this and it is not secularism
