1. How Anecdotal Evidence Can Undermine Scientific Results

Jenlaferriere - The point you make is as Donny Yates sais exaclty what Shermer tries to point out as being an invalid one.

And as to explain the urge that arises in me to disbelieve all the claims of chiropractors, I think in one of their episodes of "Bullshit" Penn & Teller show the -dangers- and lack of actual medical background in chiropractice. I'd say vaccination at least is proven to do some good.

EDIT: season one, episode two

2. Anti-Quran Film Fitna Pulled From Web Due to 'Threats'

I doubt Geert Wilders has such a moralistic goal as we contribute to him, I think he just is polarizing, the whole fiasco going with this movie shows a valid problem.

Both the calimero-syndrome of the muslim faith and the excessive cowardice of the dutch government regarding the possible appearance of a movie of which nobody knew the contents, are true problems.

Mr. Wilders has not even once held a decent public debate regarding his moves and motives and seems to be consistently running away from such a confrontation. If his points are of such nature as the ones that are expressed by the people on the RD side, I doubt Mr. Wilders is doing any more than blindly copying them.

Its a point well made, but nevertheless Mr. Wilders is just as bad as an attention-horny insulting lunatic.

Happy Birthday Richard! (Feeling very privileged to be saying that)

You have made me realize how lucky I have been to be born and raised a free thinker. And you have helped me cure myself of the indifference about religion. I can't think of enough words to thank you for that!

Keep up the good work!

How do they even come up with their 'truths'. One has to recognise the creative skills of the christians, no matter which problem you lie upon them, you can count on an irrational solution oftenly exeeding the imagination of the best fantasy book authors you will find in your local bookstore.

14. One Hell of a Religious Read

I cant help but feel he copied one of the great prides of Holland on the field of freedom of speech and atheism: the late Theo van Gogh. His website was even named "degezonderoker" (translated in english "thehealthysmoker". That guy also seemed to be holding a cigarette in pretty much the exact same way as depiced by this guy here on nearly every foto.

if you look at it from that point of view I suspect this guy tries to make a statement to 'challenge' religous fanaticists like the one who slaughtered our dear Theo.

15. Dinesh D'Souza says I don't exist: an atheist at Virginia Tech

Comment #33363 by Absinthius on April 20, 2007 at 12:29 am

This is beautifull, i can't belive how short-minded some people can be when it comes to their personal arrogance regarding their religion. D'Souza is obviously just trying to throw extra oil on the fire, instead of trying to show compassion for the atheistic victims of this drama, basically denying their capability or right to feel bad about this. Im glad atheists (or at least the larger part of them) do have the decency to let people deal with this the way they feel is the best.
