2. Stephen Hawking's explosive new theory
Comment #201746 by konquererz on June 30, 2008 at 7:57 am
I love new theories. I can't wait to see how this one progresses. Whether it fails or succeeds, this is the stuff that makes science fun and exciting.
I do agree they need to stop using the "god" language where they don't mean "God". It really makes it difficult for non-believers to get it.
Comment #191061 by konquererz on June 10, 2008 at 6:57 am
What an absolutely perfect piece of satire! We need more of these. Some times, satire is the only way to really make a point be understood.
4. Logical Proof of the Existence of a Divine Creator, Why Atheism is Not Logically Sound
Comment #190586 by konquererz on June 9, 2008 at 9:21 am
Once again some christian shows their complete lack of understanding of the Universe, assuming that is some how complete planned out and structured like a building, instead of loosely structured and full of cosmic anomalies and irregularities. As well, he once again misses the ultimate problem. If it is structured like he says, that in no way gets you closer to the divine creator. It isn't "big bang or god". That isn't the way it works. Even if logically there absolutely must be a creator, you are still obligated to prove the existence of said creator and prove that said creator is indeed divine. Could we not be in someone else's petri dish? And just because you think you found a flaw in one natural explanation, that doesn't exclude all other possible natural explanations.
And then comes the good stuff. How many creators? What is the nature of the creators? Why not an entire group of creators? See, what these people are trying to get to is admittance of the existence of their god. Which their argument still doesn't do.
5. Opponents of Evolution Adopting a New Strategy
Comment #189445 by konquererz on June 6, 2008 at 9:39 am
I think we should explain the strengths and weaknesses of creationism too. Like no proof of a creator. Like no positive evidence for creation. Well, can't do that, that obviously shows that creationism isn't even a hypothesis.

7. Americans pray at the pump for cheaper petrol
Comment #179353 by konquererz on May 13, 2008 at 6:45 am
"Woe be unto those people that are really greedy and taking advantage of American families," he proclaimed from his pump pulpit.
Woe be to free market capitalism? Idiots, the very free market they scream for is motivated by greed!
But by all means, feel free to ask god to strike down the rich. But he would have to destroy to many churches to make it worth his while.
8. My Response to Rabbi Shmuley Boteach

I will translate for the good Rabbi.
"When I want to insult you, be assured you will know when you are being insulted with no need to make shit up. Now shut up you ignorant trog. When the rational world wants your opinion, we will give it to you! Have a nice day shrieking like Hitler to your ignorant audience."
Richard seems to get those slaps in much better than I do. That one stung, and he was so nice and polite about it! Excellent response Mr. Dawkins!
9. Churchgoing on its knees as Christianity falls out of favour
Comment #177474 by konquererz on May 9, 2008 at 6:44 am
It is the fate of the rational to suffer at the hands of the faithful but our duty to struggle on. The overall evils of religion, compounded with the cruelty of man, make the struggle worthy. No matter the cost, we can never cease fighting against fundamentalist religion. Our childrens children will thank us some day for our diligence.

I have given up trying to explain things to these irrational douche bag fundies. I now just ridicule them and laugh at them for knowing so little about evolution. They feel embarassed when you laugh at their interpretation of science when they realize that their stupid fundy book on creationism is stupid. Then they get mad like little children then they tell me I will burn in hell.

Comment #176983 by konquererz on May 8, 2008 at 12:27 pm
Freedom is god's gift to man kind? So he is going to force it on the world? Sounds crusadish to me. But that aside, gods gift to the world is freedom and Jesus and if you don't accept them you burn in hell for ever. What a douchebag Bush is.

I found my self laughing, not because it was funny, but from my own memories. Having come from this style of christianity myself, it seems so hilarious now reading what I myself have done before. I really thought he should have just spoken gobly gook when they told him to speak in tongues. But the song was hilarious.

"Hollywood trumps it up for dramatic effect, of course," says Bradshaw. "But I would say The Exorcist is the most accurate depiction of demonic possession."
Wow, I didn't realize that despite no one being alive that has actually seen this in real life, this is actually how it is!
This dude is a whack job.
"Let me tell you that scholarly information would suggest that demon possession, very definitely, does happen."
Scholarly information from three hundred years ago no doubt!
And it happens to good people, Bradshaw theorizes, noting that targets tend toward the innocent, highly virtuous and unusually gifted.
Sweet! So god leaves the innocent, virtuous, and gifted to get soul f*cked by a demon! Go god! What a dumbass! This dude only makes the argument against a god easier to show.
15. Is Liberal Catholicism Dead?
Comment #176461 by konquererz on May 7, 2008 at 11:42 am
This is a good thing. They even mentioned that the younger generation is just doing what ever they want any way. If this trend continues, the old fundamentalist power of the catholic church will simply fade away or be ignored. Reform the church? Screw that, do what ever the hell you want, it will ultimately remove power from the church that refuses to give into reality. In the end, this helps the church step away from itself. It will no longer be worthy of reforming from the inside, people will just leave.

Comment #176457 by konquererz on May 7, 2008 at 11:34 am
This type of thing isn't written for people who already get it. This type of thing is for the curious, the not sure, the people looking for a reason to not need religion or a god. Nothing of intelligence will get to the fundies. But this will get to some people, even if everything isn't as scientifically precise as we would like. Children, teenagers, people who love science but are religionists, this is for them. This is their chance to open their mind and thing outside of small world they think they live it.
17. Does science make belief in God obsolete?
Comment #171038 by konquererz on April 28, 2008 at 9:02 am

Hmm, interesting. But I don't know the details of how it works. I will wait and see if it pans out. After all, if he really did create a perpetual motion machine, and it really does what he claims, then this should stand up to the most extreme scrutiny. He should be willing to let scientists from all studies have at it. If its genuine, it will hold up. If not, just another wannabe and no one cares.

I am a computer guy, so I don't really have the expertise or understanding to follow this kind of discussion. However, from someone who loves learning about the universe and science in general, I can tell you that articles like this do well to stoke the flames of curiosity in people. Whether it turns out that primordial black holes exist or don't is of no consequence. Getting people to study the subject is. Thus creating hype and excitement around science is a good thing. Agreed that I don't want people going around believing things that aren't true. But its exciting to hear of possibilities and possible future advancements. Thats why people what shows about future technology. Its fun.

Comment #117235 by konquererz on January 28, 2008 at 12:46 pm
Its hard for religionists to really accept transcendent experience beyond the religious dogma. They don't realize that religion can still provide purpose without the need to bow down before an invisible sky daddy.
30. The real danger in Darwin is not evolution, but racism
Comment #115385 by konquererz on January 24, 2008 at 6:06 am
Unlike the church, it didn't take people who believe in evolution and are atheists a thousand years to realize that racism and slavery are wrong and cease the support of it. The catholic church to decades upon decades to denounce racism and slavery, BECAUSE it was in the bible. I read that part of Darwin's writing, but already knew that it was wrong because I believe in the equality of all peoples. I don't need a book to tell me that, its in my blood. So the church needs to shut the hell up and remember that their big honcho Paul espoused slavery and told slaves to serve their masters as unto god, and thats why the church espoused slavery for so long.

40. Huckabee Wants A 'Faith-based' Constitution
Comment #111978 by konquererz on January 16, 2008 at 6:15 am
Hucklberry needs to speak more. The longer he hangs around, the crazier he sounds. Better to let him keep talking and people can see what he is really like. Like I pointed out to my parents (evangelicals), he thinks speaking in tongues is blasphemy, do you really want a person who thinks he can change the constitution to match his own interpretation of gods laws making laws that can effect your religion? Namely when he believes part of what you do is blasphemy? Blasphemy laws any one? Didn't think so.
