crikey! ive just realised what i said.
please read godless heathens as 'people who dont buy into our particular belief systems.'
seriously, i think the issue of evangelicals sharing events with the military is more serious than readily apparent.

'SBC officials stated that special Bibles for military personnel would be disseminated at the gathering.'
not your ordinary, run-of-the-mill, regular bibles then! i wonder how they differ from the original?
'thou shalt not kill' changed to ' thou shalt only kill godless heathens'perhaps?

i strongly suspect that devolved is incapable of changing his views no matter how many mountains of evidence were to be placed before him . there is something profoundly disquieting about such blind, irrational belief in something despite overwhelming evidence to its contrary. and i find his smugness nauseating.

i am currently reading the book for the second time. i have promised to loan it to someone i know who is presently recovering in hospital. interestingly enough, this guy is of the jewish persuasion but in discussion with him about previous professor dawkings books,( he has read all his previous works!) i have discovered that he his as much a radical atheist as myself( i have borrowed that great description from 'the god delusion' by the way!) i have a feeling that to declare his atheism to his family and friends would cause him more hassle then just carrying on with the rituals and keeping shtumm.
5. Mormonism: A Racket Becomes a Religion

the mormons believe that anyone of them who subscribe to their faith can receive phrophecy from god. and that 'sin' ( i.e. anything which they choose to pin that label upon) can be atoned for by blood. a lethal, nasty combination for some of the delusional fanatics of that cult to freely interpret as they may.
the mormon religion is so utterly barmy it is beyond satire or irony, but it is not funny in the way, say, that haberdasherers cult, the jehovahs witnessess are.
