I can pretty confidently say thay they are not in hell!! :-)

2. The Atheists Interviews

Barbara and NorthernBright,
Mike Burns here (the subject of the interview). I heard the words [paraphrased] "technically, it can be said that I am agnostic in regard to God" directly from the esteemed Prof. Dawkins lips during an interview.

Both he and I hold fundamentally identical positions on this matter. In any practical sense, we are both unabashed atheists. Only on a very technical level are we agnostic; but only in the way that I am agnostic on my belief that water is made up of two parts hydrogen and one part oxygen. I do not really doubt that water is H2O because of the existing evidence . . . but you never know!! :-)

I hope that makes sense.

At once chilling, perverse and achingly sad. What a primitive mentality.

As I say to some when engaged in "meaning of life" discussions, I tell them that we (as a species) are meaningless, insignificant specs in this universe . . . by my son, most assuredly, is not.

Some get my point; most do not. I would be curious how many of you might get it's meaning.

Is it just, or does anyone else seem to think a herculean effort for the sole purpose of propagating our species seem rather . . . I dunno . . . conceited? If we are the insignificant life form that we here think we are, I don't see the great import of colonizing other planets.

On the other hand, if, in our quest to gain answers about our selves and our universe, we happen to gain the knowledge that makes it sensible and desireable to colonize, well then that makes sense to me.

Propagation for propagation's sake . . . I don't really get it. . . . (unless we are protecting our divine sole bequeathed to us as our loving, compassionate creator)

6. Republican candidates range from ignorant to dishonest

I wouldn't read too much into McCain's hedging. Unfortunately, to even have a CHANCE of winning, you can't deny belief in God. Were Pete Stark (our one and only openly atheist federal lawmaker) to run for president, he would have to do his own hedging. It is a sad fact.

This says nothing about where he stands on other issues.

7. Lou Dobbs Interviews Christopher Hitchens

As an American, I am not sure how truly breathtaking this interview was for me. I know of no other maintream television anchor to unambiguously endorse an atheistic tome. I was genuinely moved. Thank you Lou!

8. A Brief History of Disbelief

The documentary has very limited release in the US at present. I called my local PBS station and requested that they pick it up. I would implore that you all do the same.
