Bizzaro Dawkins,
I don't think anyone is saying that our ability to create artificial life as described above is being pursued with the intention of "proving" evolution.
The evidence for the evolution of life is a given and would make work that these groups are doing pretty pointless if evolution didn't, in fact, occur and work how we know it works.
This is but another example of humans making applications that use our knowledge of evolution in an effort to address real-world problems.
For all the shouting that the religious community does at the scientific community, I have yet to see any real-world applications from religion and an answer to why evolution works anyway when we use it to make applications.

I actually thought it was a good little piece, especially considering who wrote it. Hopefully he'll come under fire for his "controversial" remarks and this issue will get a wide notice.

As an atheist, I can't believe that I'm about to agree with Ann Coulter, but I actually can't believe my ears when I hear people stand up and defend ILLEGAL immigration. Hello?!?
We're not talking about legal immigration, we're talking about it's opposite: people who come here by breaking the rules we have established for them to properly enter.
They need to have their hands lopped off or something. I'm all for America being land of the free and home of the brave; It's a part of our history. But we must have certain controls. And when those few, controls are breached by people without the decency to follow a few simple rules that would keep them on the legal side of things, I must withhold my blessings.
Did I really just agree with Ann Coulter? Ugh...*shudder*

I'm content with knowing that many of the readers in question are people of faith or people "on the fence" and willing to pick up a book that questions their assumptions about the world. Hopefully this will be a force for good and will open up debate.
I just wish that people like Rachel Zoll (above) would stop using the same old tired cliches when describing atheists as if all of these new books didn't have something better to say.
Lastly, I'm looking forward to my book, "God is a Terrorist" joining the list!
