How embarassing the article is.
"Wondering means tolerating mysteries. Interestingly enough, it was Socrates, not some religious fanatic so pilloried by the evangelical atheists, who said that philosophy begins in wonder."
What we have of Socrates is through Plato, who was a religious fanatic.
2. Town moves against Islamic school
Comment #184965 by redkris on May 26, 2008 at 3:01 pm
Doesn't strike me as being overtly racist. As has already been said Islam is not a race, and the concerns appear to stem from the affect the school and resulting religious community would have on the existing local community. It is more likely that they have seen and are aware of the tensions that are brought about by the influx of people that subscribe to a particular contemptable and frankly dangerous cult such as Islam, and they wish to avoid it. Fact is most of us would.
3. Indian village proud after double 'honor killing'

Contemptible.
Kill your daughter and unborn grandchild and then celebrate the fact for all to see...just another day in the life of a religious wack job.
It is depressing that the authorities are either too weak to act against those responsible, or is sympathetic to such acts of barbarity.
4. British Airways takes beef off the menu to avoid offending Hindus
Comment #178137 by redkris on May 10, 2008 at 3:09 pm
Holy cow! I expect this decision is motivated by worry of offending, although Hindu's themselves have probably had little to do with the decision; the decision will most likely have been made by a non-Hindu who has taken it upon him/herself to act as defender of their cultural difference by depriving everyone else of an eating option.
5. Churchgoing on its knees as Christianity falls out of favour

Hazel Blears, the Communities Secretary with responsibility for community cohesion, said: "We will look at these findings very closely. Britain is a secular democracy with a strong Christian tradition but many faiths have a home in Britain."
Heartening that a prominent member of the government has actually acknowledged that we (currently) live in a secular democracy, especially considering New Labour's record whilst in power.
The growth faiths and denominations in Britain are wholly the result of immigration, as few are converting.
"...further aid the stated aim of the Prince of Wales who, on his Coronation, hopes to become Defender of Faith rather than Defender of the Faith."
How terribly noble and inclusive of him! Still be wearing the dunce cap.

What is this silly man blathering on about now?
Nobody writes so much and something so vacuous as a theologian does. He's continuing the tradition i see.
7. Papal encyclical attacks atheism, lauds hope

What a tit.
"The Pope urged Christians to put their hope for a better future in God."
And i imagine he has an unlimited amount of time to deliver the goods. Think i'll stick with humans and technology, thanks all the same.
Time for your nap Benny, do everyone a favour and don't wake up from it.

10. The Debate: Can We Live by Reason Alone?
Comment #40096 by redkris on May 13, 2007 at 5:07 am
The first half of the show was entertaining, Dawkins as usual giving his position with clarity to the common theistic questions. The second half was embarrassing- not least because of the apparent lack of intelligence being exhibited by the three fairy worshippers. And because of the system that these shows have of the non-believer on first, then a gallery of theists given free licence to say what they want without challenge.
