2. Town Hall Seattle: God Is Not Great

Here is my story of how Jesus helped us solve the problem of Suicide bombers:

God's inability to cope with the demand for virgins in heaven drove him into depression. Suicide bombers were arriving in truckloads. Unable to cope with this demand he summoned all his franchise holders from Asia, the Middle-East and the white western world for serious reconsideration of his policy of reward for faithfulness. Shiva, Vishnu, Jesus-his only son and several others arrived to offer counsel. The Indian deities were not keen on sacrificing their Hindu virgins for those Muslim youngsters. They told god that child marriage was rampant in rural India and the city girls would never qualify for entry into heaven. God asked his only son to rescue him from this impossible situation.

The Jewish genius, the Jesus of Nazareth had a bright idea; he said he could divert the N1 H1 infected birds in the direction of old-age home for retired nuns. There were thousands of them in Italy and technically they were all virgins. The very next day the word got around and the number of suicide bombers arriving in the gates of heaven dropped dramatically.

3. Interview with Dan Dennett on Danish TV

Comment #54414 by Nastikananda on July 7, 2007 at 1:08 am

I think we need people of different temperaments, manners, appearances and the levels passion to promote this cause of providing a questioning opposition to Religions. Sam Harris does it his way and others like Dennett and Dawkins do this differently. Christopher Hitchens does it in a controversial manner. I think all these methods of communication will reach or attract the attention of various target segments of audience. I hope more people will tend to rise up to satisfy the needs of the left over niche. Religions are designed to satisfy people of all temperaments except atheists. Can we have someone to seduce the believer?

6. Richard Dawkins and Alister McGrath

Comment #47153 by Nastikananda on June 3, 2007 at 7:32 am

It is time an Atheist challenges Dawkins and keeps him on his toes. Believers end up making a fool of themselves by exhibiting their ignorance. A first rate atheist should find flaws in Dawkins' statements.

7. Richard Dawkins and Alister McGrath

Mc Grath is no match for Dawkins for the following reasons:

1. Dawkins is a serious seeker of truth and McGrath has found truth in Jesus. He has stopped enquiring! Dawkins is full of wonderment and has the curiosity of a fresh mind while Mc Grath has concluded, is certain and he knows the mind of GOD.

2. McGrath is conditioned and programmed in the patterns of thinking that drive Christians. He seems to draw from the goldmine of ignorance called the Bible.

3. He, McGrath, kept saying " I think you raised some good questions"....

4. To be fair to him he had to answer questions, so he was a bit nervous and thought he had to defend his faith. One should never defend anything, not even himself, if one wants to know the truth.

5. I think he is no match to Dawkins. It is unfortunate that there is no serious believer with a first rate intellect, to challenge Dawkins and give him a hard time.

6. Editing was bad, the participants were disturbed by the cameras...and it did not sound like natural, relaxed setting!!! Very unfortunate.

PAKISTAN OR ISLAMIC REPUBLIC OF PAKISTAN :

1. It has thrived on hate, manufacture of terror technology and has created a nation of schizophrenics resulting from the obvious contradiction between what Koran preaches, expects one to practice and the way human nature is.

2. About 30,000 Madrasas have been built in Pakistan, these places deny reason, train people to return to the middle-ages and preach ignorance. These schools are financed by the Saudi government.

3. During President Zia-Ul-Haq [ a former dictator] regime, a child and its mother were stoned to death. The poor mother had conceived that innocent child being a victim of rape and could not prove as she had no witnesses. She had to produce 3 of them , according to the Saharia law.

9. Debate between Richard Dawkins and Robert Winston

Comment #45677 by Nastikananda on May 28, 2007 at 11:32 pm

Belief, like hope, is rooted in the unconscious, it would be very difficult to really question it.Some people are scared of questioning it because it makes everything crumble and people do not like to live in uncertainty. Even the so called scientists spend their whole lives hunting for certainty.

Dr. Winston is no different. Richard Dawkins is asking too much, he is challenging the evolutionary need for security. People like to live a lie. What Richard Dawkins is talking about could be called : Spirituality in its pure form.Science may be the only way to unravel the secret of life. Meditation and silence can assist.
