pewkatcho - "I think that Mr Mathis is an extremely brave man. After all, he must be aware of the fact that he is a complete numpty, and yet he still took part in this interview."

Maybe he lost a bet with the producer...what a tool.

6. I don't believe in atheists

Comment #143634 by mcadamsdj on March 14, 2008 at 9:01 am

Video interview with Hedges stating much of the same:
http://3quarksdaily.blogs.com/3quarksdaily/2008/02/chris-hedges-co.html

Sam Harris endorsing a pre-emptive first strike??? WTF??? Who the fuck flew planes into WTC??? The End of Faith was written out of the fact that we are now standing on a precipice of global destruction that is religiously driven, and some of us who don't believe in invisible sky dwellers don't want to be blown to shit. This interview just illustrates that if that's all that Mr Hedges got out of reading "the new atheist's" (I HATE that term btw) books, then he has proven that he is nothing but a nit-wit psuedointellectual.

Oh wait, I forgot he has a Master's in Divinity from Harvard...

Can't we just make these guys go away? Far away forever? Maybe to Antarctica. Nah, I wouldn't dream of doing something so cruel to the penguins.

11. Lewis Black - The Devil's Handiwork

Comment #115507 by mcadamsdj on January 24, 2008 at 9:05 am

I am a huge Lewis Black fan. Took my Dad to see him on his birthday when Lewis was passing through Pittsburgh. Funny as hell and all new material despite the fact that he still called it the "Red, White, and Screwed" Tour. If you have a chance to see him live, take it!

13. Huckabee Wants A 'Faith-based' Constitution

Comment #113024 by mcadamsdj on January 18, 2008 at 1:12 pm

2 of my favorite quotes from people at crooksandliars.com about this piece:

1. Jason S, "How about God and the Constitution just leaving each other the fuck alone?"

2. JudyLou, "Let Huckabee go up on a mountain–they have some in Arkansas–with a copule of stone tablets, and wait for God to send down the new, revised U.S. Constitution."

LMAO!!!

16. Huckabee Wants A 'Faith-based' Constitution

Comment #112045 by mcadamsdj on January 16, 2008 at 8:43 am

YssiBoo said, "To all american atheists: If your country becomes a theocracy (theocrazy?) you are welcome to seek political refuge in my country. We need more good atheists in Norway as well. "

SWEET! But isn't Norway kind of cold and dark :).

Seriously, the problem is that Huckabee is actually a likable guy. The voter turnout is piss-poor in America to begin with. Then on top of that, probably half of those who vote do so based on the candidate's personality rather than the issues. So they're going to say, "Wow, he seems like a nice guy, I'll vote for him." Then before you know it...BAM! Creationism in public schools.

19. Stop House Resolution 888

Comment #108159 by mcadamsdj on January 6, 2008 at 6:22 am

Just wrote to my congressman, thanks for the template at www.talk2action.com. Does anyone else think it's just plain silly that they even propose resolutions like this? How about these instead:

"The first week of May will now be known as:
1. Be nice to your neighbor week
2. Feed a hungry child week
3. Don't drive angry week
4. Help an old lady cross the street week
5. Instead of going to church go to the library week"

Frankly, any of these would be better.

Comment #98175 by mcadamsdj on December 13, 2007 at 7:45 am

Oh, Congress just gets all mushy this time of year...probably from watching The Grinch too many times and crying when little Cindy Loo Hoo says, "Why? Why Santy Clause? Why are you taking our Christmas tree? Why?"

24. Daniel Dennett Debates Dinesh D'Souza

Comment #97526 by mcadamsdj on December 12, 2007 at 8:53 am

I'm sorry...I know this has been said, but it bears repeating...D'Souza is a moron.

I'm only through part 10, but his arguments are ridiculous. The ever popular, "God is outside of space and time and therefore cannot be subject to our laws..." What the F@*# does that mean?!?! And here's a clue for you...IT DOESN'T BECOME TRUE IF YOU SHOUT IT!

I just kept wanting to say, "Stop shouting at me Dinesh!" through the whole goddamn thing.

"You know what we should have? A good ol' fashioned book burning..." - Quote Bill Donohue may as well be saying.

I just bought the first book a couple of weeks ago. Have not read it yet, but was planning on buying the second and third later. Now I'm going to buy them just before Christmas just to spite the Catholic League.

"One phrase comes to mine when reading this article (and the previous articles about this movie):

"Get a life"

Seriously, it's just a movie, get a life."

LOL Silent Mike!
Have you seen Bill Donohue's video about TGC on the catholic league website? Check it out: http://catholicleague.org/videos/. What a nut job.
By the way, when's the next secret atheist meeting to present atheism to kids and undermine Catholic values? I missed the last one...:)

By the sight of the UASF Academy chapel website http://www.usafa.af.mil/superintendent/hc/ it sure looks multidenominational...but I wonder just how many show up for the Friday Muslim prayer service.

Moron.

32. Debate between Christopher Hitchens and Dinesh D'Souza

Comment #83844 by mcadamsdj on October 31, 2007 at 1:06 pm

Sorry if this was mentioned already...I didn't have a chance to read all of the comments...

As always I think that Hitch was the winner in this debate. The problem I had was with the moderation. It falsely appeared that D'Souza did better in the second half of the debate. I think that's because almost every question was directed at Hitchens! Hitch responds, then D'Souza gets a rebuttal; However, Hitchens does not get to comment on any rebuttal (I mean, not really...Hitch pretty much says whatever he wants and for how ever long he wants, regardless of the format). So in essence D'Souza gets the last word on each and every question!

The fool of a moderator (aka chipmunk face, aka "dean" of King's college, aka one Marvin Olasky; who Hitch mops the floor with in this debate http://richarddawkins.net/article,1284,The-Future-Forum-Presents-Christopher-Hitchens-and-Marvin-Olasky,Future-Forum-Christopher-Hitchens) should have either allowed more discussion post questions (eg two replys each) or asked that questions be directed at debators in an alternating fashion. But that seems like it would have been too complicated for Olasky...

Northern Bright,

Unfortunately these people can "prescribe" a fair amount of substances without any regulation. Thyroid replacement can be given as Armour Thyroid which is natural thyroid hormone (this is what was given to my patient).

Heck, I can get it off of the internet right now if I want without any regulation! Just check out this site, http://www.antiaging-systems.com/a2z/thyroid.htm, marketing thyroid supplement as an antiaging drug. Unbelievable.

"But no serious homeopaths consider themselves a viable alternative to western medicine, unless they're really out there."

Tell that to the homeopath who gave one of my patients thyroid hormone replacement just because they felt "sluggish..." uh, without checking the thyroid hormone level!

My patient came in with a heart arrhythmia which she wouldn't otherwise have had, but at least she wasn't sluggish anymore...

Comment #65205 by mcadamsdj on August 23, 2007 at 7:08 am

Wow, I just lost all respect for Ben Stein...I mean, he is actually a brilliant guy when you get past the B-list acting, eye-drop commercials, etc. His knowledge of economics and investing is amazing. But this is just pathetic.

40. The Future Forum Presents: Christopher Hitchens and Marvin Olasky

Comment #50159 by mcadamsdj on June 15, 2007 at 11:07 am

Holy crap...

They really cannot have paid Hitch much for this appearance. His "contender" was fantastically weak.

I may just contact Hitch's agent to see if he can come and give a lecture at my house. Christ, I'm more interesting than Olasky and that says a lot!
