Comment #180279 by Solarium Solaris on May 14, 2008 at 1:33 pm
Geodesic, I don't think you understood me. Are you saying that astronomers always knew this supernova was there but just now found out its age?
The way I took the article was that astronomers just became aware that this supernova exists. So if they only recently discovered its existence, how do they have an old image of it?

If they just discovered this how do they have a 25 year old image of it? Just wondering.

However it is just these moderates that RD (and I agree) finds most irritating. The creationists assert the bible is truth and act accordingly, daft but at least consistent.
4. Evolution: What is 'Natural'?

Its strange how nature is overwhelmingly piloted by greed and self-interest but at the same time so beautiful, mysterious, and loved.

I actually kinda sort of agree with bizarro. it gets really old and annoying when people keep posting the same things about every article ("yeah, but we all know that in reality goddidit" is the most common, and most annoying. its not funny anymore. -please stop saying it as if it was). It seems as if some atheists on this site just want some excuse to make fun of religious people and their stupidity.
Ps: Im an atheist and a huge fan of rd)

Those butterflies are smarter than most humans.

I have ESP. I predict that the comments to follow will not be supportive of such claims.

Instead of telling people that I'm an "atheist" I just say that "I don't believe in god." This way avoids the negative connotations that I wish to avoid and correctly states my opinion.
But actually I do say "atheist" often just for fun.
11. Monkey, Business

This entire argument is strange to me. Economics and evolution are separate subjects, and I don't see why any sort of biological law must determine our markets.
12. 'Gospel of wealth' facing scrutiny

Sometimes I think that if these people are gullible enough to believe these greedy church leaders then they deserve to be fleeced.
Other times I feel pity.
But mostly I laugh.
13. Genes Tied to Bad Reactions to Antidepressant Drug
Comment #74465 by Solarium Solaris on September 29, 2007 at 2:13 am
Like another poster above I also have first hand experience with anti-depressants. I've been taking Paxil for 4 months and my only regret is that I didn't start taking it far earlier. I haven't had any noticeable side-effects and the drug has worked like a miracle for my anxiety and depression.
14. India to charge writer Nasreen with 'hurting Muslim feelings'
Comment #67558 by Solarium Solaris on September 3, 2007 at 7:39 pm
"Several lawmakers and members of a conservative Muslim political party threw flowers and other items at her and called for her death."
Am I missing something here? Calling for the poor girls death whilst flinging flowers at her? Seems like a very mixed message. Don't get me wrong, I'm definitely glad that that is what they threw at her, but if they were so furiated would it not make more sense to use bottles and rocks?

Roach, don't you know anything! Compliments are for pussies!
Now back to the topic. I find it hard to understand how a person can show so much passion and dedication to their faith while at the same time having so many internal doubts. If Mother Teresa was so unsure about Christianity how could she continue to follow its bizarre doctrines so fervently? I just don't get it.

It seems that all these religious people are very thin-skinned. One would think that if any of their gods was "The One True God" then He wouldn't need such defending.

In one of the links, PZ mentions that D'Arcy Thompson was not a "Darwinist" but accepted evolution. What does that mean? Isn't belief in evolution and Darwinism the same thing?

Our brains are so amazing. Yes, many religious people often give credit to their imaginary god, but many atheists are so quick to bash those wackos that they overlook the true beauty and power of the human mind.
