Comment #193884 by Alkal on June 16, 2008 at 7:33 am

2. Opponents of Evolution Adopting a New Strategy

Comment #189050 by Alkal on June 5, 2008 at 9:33 am

yes, lets also have the strengths( none) and weaknesses( not healing amputees, prayer not working, genocide, discrimnation, women being inferior, slavery, 6 days too short etc etc etc etc etc) of the ID/creationist point of view..

Evolution, you know it happens. not teaching it is not going to make it any less true. I am so hopping mad right now.

I will send my kids when I have em to public school and give em The Selfish Gene to read- no better way to show em what kind of bull crap( excuse the strong language)a perverted belief in a Bronze Age bigot leads you to. Actually it is something that they need a lesson in early enough...

Not believe in evolution Hah....

I mean what is the other side"Goddit" that doe s not have "gaps".....

Let us begin an underground "Teach Science" ... it has been done in oppressed nations before...

Comment #180054 by Alkal on May 14, 2008 at 6:36 am

8. British Airways takes beef off the menu to avoid offending Hindus

Comment #178422 by Alkal on May 11, 2008 at 11:44 am

In India I never got to eat any beef. Was in one of the northern states. I started eating it here in the US and now wild horses cannot drive me away from it.

One of my friends said "How can you eat beef, the cow is like our mother" I replied with a "Maybe like yours, mine is very human".

Comment #175058 by Alkal on May 4, 2008 at 9:54 am

Lets nto forget, this is the same country where they have a"rat temple"
http://www.karnimata.com/

Actually if any "harm" came, it would be quietly hushed up.
The government is never going to say anything it forever tries to pander to religious feelings.
And in case the "its their culture" argument comes up, let me mention I am from India and I find all this batshit crazy

13. How to reconcile Richard Dawkins?

Comment #172156 by Alkal on April 29, 2008 at 9:21 am

As far as I know, all the communist struggles were class struggles. They were anti-religion because the religious had amassed vast wealth by duping the ordinary folk. It was oppressed against the elite. Of course Stalin and Mao later made huge personality cults of their own- not unlike religions. Had people been atheist pre-the class struggle maybe the inequity would not have existed as much as it did,and the killing avoided.

17. For sale: 13-year-old virgin

Comment #160854 by Alkal on April 14, 2008 at 1:32 pm

Human Rights are universal regardless of culture.
Oppressing women, children and minorities in the name of Culture and tradition is always carried out. The evil of "tolerating other cultures" keeps the canker alive. What is this about "judging" another culture, is it agreeing that "they" are different, somehow less human. That attitude far from being assimilationist is more than divisive.
This is a travesty a shame...
If selling a 13 year old is "culture" to hell with that culture( and before anyone says anything let me tell you I am from India- I married on my own, do not believe in any bs about preserving tradition....)

Comment #150624 by Alkal on March 27, 2008 at 7:31 am

Are they going to teach the "controversy" that Earth is in fact standing on a giant invisible tortoise which is on a giant tortoise which is on a tortoise.. and it is tortoises all the way down.. I mean given a sufficient amount of creativity that can be a very good explanation for why the earth does not fall off... Tortoise balance and Gravity, big science and the conspiracy to teach gravity in public school.... then we could have the conspiracy to brush your teeth in the morning...( Big toothpaste vs the benevolent stinky mouth germs or some thing...) and there could be other consipracies too..

Please may I swear loudly and vileley.

32. Loneliness Breeds Belief in Supernatural

Comment #116314 by Alkal on January 26, 2008 at 8:35 am

Probably that is why I never became a religious nut-case... I was an only kid, with a very strong reading habit- which has pretty much kept me through long periods of being forced to be alone- when I was doing my masters and alter on when I was working .... Yes the reading kept me away from groups to join and stuff like that.. and I never was "lonely" only alone... never saw the need to conform..

Now for I believe in dog, yup I need a dog to believe in, also a cat.

33. A Letter From Hell

Comment #115977 by Alkal on January 25, 2008 at 7:22 am

For this site and the science news, not too bad a sacrifice those flames. And hell is certainly better connected than heaven is- no emails from there- Hell for me anytime.

Cannot people be imprisoned for such de-humanizing views... freedom of speech notwithstanding, and if they cannot then in the interests of freedom of speech apostates and heretics and those horrible "atheists" need to be heard as well. Well this kind of talk is hatem-ongering is it not?

42. Priest who committed suicide for rebirth cremated

Comment #103434 by Alkal on December 25, 2007 at 3:42 pm

ohh and Hindustan refers to the land beyond the Indus....

A penis God no, but Siva is worshipped in the form of a phallus... and Shakti as the female version, the "yoni"

And Atheism or "Carvaka" is a consistent school of Hindu philosophy.....

More to the confusing melange :D

But seriously more priests should follow suit... more so because a good life results in freedom from the cycle of rebirth( another Hindu belief) so I guess the priest was not so well-read either....
