Well, I find this subject fascinating, but this is not the first I have heard of it. I agree with Severus although, that as far as achaeology goes, there are much more noteworthy stories abounding. This also brings me to suggest that the subject of history(my own specialty), while related to archaelogy, should be in its own category. I say this because history, especially that of the ancient Greek and Roman world, and even Renaissance Europe and Colonial America, has much to teach us about what once was, what could have, should have, and would have been, and show us of mistakes that have happened that can be prevented. Most people do not make the connection between the decline of high technological levels proportionate to the rise of Christianity towards the end of the classical world is the same as the present day. Our high technical civilization is once again being threatened by a rise of fundamentalist religious attitudes, with the potential for bringing civilization to its knees like it did over 1500 years ago.
