Why are all of you such bitter people? It is so obvious that you have no happiness in your life. Your hearts are empty. Jesus can fill this void. Just trust in him. There has been something done to you in the past that is not enabling you to trust and have faith in a loving and all powerful God. Overcome this. You can do it. You have the free will to change your life today, for the better.

I've very much enjoyed this comment thread. As usual I have learned a lot, and laughed a loT.
I just wanted to throw my 2 cents in about why txp can't let go his delusion. I think it's all about delusions of grandeur. If he gives up his beliefs, it will mean that he is no longer the very special being that he wants to be so desperately.
My theory is it ties in with his "Supernatural Conspiracy Theory View" as Steve put it, and his reasons for not sharing his "evidence". Only he knows what god really wants. He is one of the very special few chosen ones who will be at jesus's right hand at the rapture. If he explains why it is that he is this very special person (even if anyone else could possibly understand the sheer brilliance and sophistication of it), he will no longer be special. He has a secret. If everyone knows the secret, he won't be special. Just trust him that it's a very important secret. ;)
God has some really great important things in store, just for txp. The "ultimate" authority has singled him out for special understanding. Why can't we all just see that? ;P
No one can take that specialness away from him. He will not allow it, because if he did, he'd just be like any other ordinary human being with a finite lifespan with which to accomplish their mudane natural goals.

However, such driving forces in keeping Religion alive as indoctrination of children, the pushing of their so-called moral monopoly, special tax treatment, etc. are the reasons why many atheists see the vision of Religion being confined to consenting adults in their private lives as an impossibility.

And even if there is difference, why is that a basis for discrimination? It would have to be an extreme and significantly dangerous difference - so dangerous that it would almost certainly be blatantly apparent already. If heterosexuals really were a threat to social stability it would probably have been made manifest by now.

I just read it too. Sad, really. I don't think it'll last either. The first blush of love will wear off, as it always does, and it won't be so satisfying to be jut another one of god's conquests. That harem is far too large for someone who needs so much individual attention and praise.

Mr. Flibble:
I saw the exhibit in Chicago while I was there visiting. I was unaware of what the article above describes as a lack of sponsorship. The exhibit was just as crowded that day as it was for the previous exhibit I had been to at the Field Museum - King Tut.
I agree that from what I saw, people were really taking their time with it and getting as much enjoyment out of it as I was. It made my day, in fact, to see so many people at the museum devouring everything they could about Darwin. :)
I live in Edmonton as usually don't have access to a museum that offers these kinds of huge touring exhibits. I am glad to know that many Canadians will get the opportunity to go to this exhibit in particular, no matter who helps sponsor it.
