I would demand some serious, serious, extraordinary evidence that this lady has some valuable ability before I would hand her $10,000/month, that's for damn sure.

Funes said science, especially astronomy, does not contradict religion, touching on a theme of Pope Benedict XVI, who has made exploring the relationship between faith and reason a key aspect of his papacy.
6. Truly Bizarre : Indians Throw Babies 50ft From Roof To Thank God.
Comment #175645 by Atheist_from_Hell on May 5, 2008 at 7:17 pm
The original link to this video on AOL said, "Babies thrown from roof for good luck." Without even watching the video I knew that this had to be something to do with religion, considering that, as Ascaphus said (#50), there is no other context in which this kind of behavior would be tolerated.
JesusChrist, concerning your comment (#10), there is no evidence to show that there is a great enough likelihood that this even might have some health benefit to make it worth investigating. I for one am not going to condone forcing sometning on someone that has no demonstrated benefit and carries a large demonstrated risk. I'm surprised that these babies don't break their necks simply from bouncing off the sheet, considering how high they bounce, even without hitting the ground.
SharonMcT and Hawker #16, #18), there was a posting on the original website where I found this video that said that we shouldn't be surprised that these people can't think clearly enough to see what a bad practice this is, considering that they had their brains rattled by being thrown off a roof when they were babies.

I find it rather surprising that Richard Dawkins got in to see the movie when P.Z. Myers did not, considering that Richard Dawkins is a lot more famous than P.Z. Myers (although P.Z. Myers is a local in that area).
Well, Professor Dawkins, if you managed to crash the screening, good going.

So let me get this straight. Some Moslems feel the need to delude themselves that interest on a loan is not interest if it is called something else, so that they can maintain their delusion that the archangel Gabriel spoke to Mohammed 1400 years ago. Lies being used to support other lies. Typical religious nonsense.

First, I like the cover art on this book. God = big fat "0"
Second, the Anselm argument strikes me as essentially boiling down to this:
1. Gee, it sure would be great if God exists.
2. Therefore, God exists.

Of course the answer is, when push comes to shove, most Christians are as reluctant to die as the rest of us. Promises of Heaven only work when their fate is inevitable. Anything short of that and they hold on to life as tenaciously as the staunchest non-believer.

The fundamentalists say that evolution by natural selection is an unproven theory. Well, here's yet more clear-cut evidence to support it.
And screw this false distinction between "micro-evolution" and "macro-evolution." "Macro-evolution" is just the cumulative effect of "micro-evolution" over a very long period of time.

HR 888 is an apalling, apalling attempt by Christian fundamentalists to get a government endorsement of their religion, thereby paving the way for a Christian theocracy. This is the email I sent to my congressman:
Congressman:
I urge you to vote against HR 888.
Our government was established on the secular principles of freedom of religion, including the freedom to practice no religion, and the separation of church and state in order to avoid the violence and persecution and oppression that occur when any religious group possesses governmental authority. With this resolution the Christian fundamentalists in this country are seeking a government endorsement of their religion. Do not give it to them. I urge you to stand for a government that shows partiality neither to any religion nor to religion in general. Again, I urge you to vote against HR 888.
