If you can't do the job that's required of you, work somewhere else.
3. A Holocaust Denier Hits Manhattan (And Hearts Hitchens)

BFKate, perhaps you should consider reading the article that Hitchens wrote. http://articles.latimes.com/2001/may/20/books/bk-144
It was linked to earlier in the comments, but here it is anyway.
The portrayal of Hitchens relationship with Irving is misrepresented in the little segment. In many ways this is probably as much a character assassination of Hitchens as it is anything else.
In any case, I agree with the ignoring the deniers, in much the same way I agree with not even debating the creationists. They're a joke really. But you must also realize it is patently immoral to get on the slippery slope of jailing a man for thinking something different. No matter how wrong he is.

"The typhus bacterium may be native to the Americas," he said. "There are no records of typhus in Europe until the 1500s."

I'm sorry that the author of this piece is so excited to find common ground with pure insanity. This is just another upset little god botherer who is upset because someone' broken the taboo of criticizing religion without the kid gloves on.
6. Neuroscience and Moral Politics: Chomsky's Intellectual Progeny

The Chomsky haters in this thread are ridiculous. They started out sounding just like believers. "YOU DIDN'T PROVE ME WRONG ABOUT WHAT CHOMSKY SAID, SO I MUST BE RIGHT"
Onus is yours to show he's a bad guy or some loony.
It's disheartening how much people just play around with words instead of actually examining the facts and context of comments and writings.
I applaud Xenocratic for not giving up sooner.

FOUNDLINK: Does anyone know of a link that does not use Real Player? Windows media or Quicktime would be better.
Just use Real Alternative instead of downloading Real Player

She lost me at the point she said that you can come here without a penny in your pocket, and if you work hard become wealthy.
I'm glad he was condescending to her, she bought the propaganda.
I wouldn't see mexican immigrants struggling and writhing in 110 degree heat here in Phoenix everyday if you could just work hard and become very wealthy. I wouldn't watch them be the target of violent crime as they work their ass off to get mugged on payday. I wouldn't watch as they die of dehydration, deserted at a work site, or in the middle of an unforgiving desert they crossed just to get here.
I may not know what it's like to be a woman who is oppressed by Islam, but she obviously doesn't know what it's like to be dirt poor in America with nothing but your hands and the clothes on your back.
She MUST have been attending that school that he mentioned.
