1. New Rules for Sarah Palin and Her Witchdoctor

Maher is not really too knowledgeable about a lot of things. His confusion of atheism with what is more or less a "strong atheistic" position of denial rather than lack of belief is one part. His anti-vax lunacy is another. I think there are more crazy beliefs he has, but I am not sure, so I'll stop with the two that I am aware of.

Re: #74 (I think) - I have had a dyson for about a month and have no loss of suckage. The thing would make a great creationist (sorry, not meant to insult the fine Dyson machine or its makers).

Over at the Atheist Experience blog (http://atheistexperience.blogspot.com/2008/06/holy-crap-is-he-really-this-stupid-is.html) there is some evidence that this fellow is involved in some pretty reprehensible (and some laughable) actions. You got to read it to get an idea of how unhinged this is. He even mentions this thread as part of the evil, disreputable, insulting actions against him by us evil atheists.

To be honest, as soon as I saw the argument from incredulity as the first, absolutely-most-stunning-fantastic-argument-that-prove-atheists-wrong point, well, I stopped reading. Anyone who thinks that is the best evidence isn't worth the read.

Yawn.

4. Lab agrees to test Shroud of Turin for new theory

I pretty much stopped reading when they said it was shown to be a fraud 20 years ago. It was shown to be a fraud by the Catholic Church hundreds of years ago - way back when it first was produced. I think this shroud has been resurrected more than their god.

5. Evidence can't shake your faith if your faith excludes it as evidence

I knew that name was connected to the Discovery Institute somehow - here's a post I found connected to previous writing on the subject: http://www.sedhe.net/blog/archives/000434.html. There are more. Campos is one of those right-wing/fundie-style hacks. I do want to ask him if we should teach the controversy regarding mythical origins of savior stories of popular religions (in religion courses, of course).

"Modern atheists have no new arguments"

Sproing - my irony meter is dead. You owe me another one. Considering that theists use the same arguments that have been around for hundreds of years, I find this laughable. Of course, since we have been using new evidence from science to disprove claims of supernatural powers, I think the line above is false, but hey, who expects accuracy from the Wall Street Journal?
