1. Arrogance, dogma and why science - not faith - is the new enemy of reason

To people who say that Dawkins bashes God and not people who believe in him, perhaps you should read his books. He calls such people ignorant stupid and (although he would not like to say so) evil! My quote may not be quite right but it is the essence of what he says. His books also often have very denegrating things to say about believers. What also amazes me about Atheists is that they attack beliefs without ever properly studying them; how many have ever read the Bible with an open mind? If I said Biology was rubbish but never studied it you would rightly call me ignorant. So much of what is said and attributed to believers is obviously based on media charactures and unrecognisable by most Christians.

To Bonzai: please read Genesis 1:26,27 - Jesus believed the whole of the Old Testament. Matthew 5:17 'Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.' Sorry to recite scripture, but you asked!

Where did you read that slavery was OK? And Where did Jesus say we should stone women? Can you point them out? I hope your study of the Bible is as accurate as mine is in science?

I'm so sorry about your grief. However, I have not had an easy life, neither do many people in the third world. However, we do find hope in our belief in God. He does not offer us complete succour, because our world is a wicked one, and we should stop blaming Him for it. However, while we can, many people continue to do so.

Actually I expect to answer logically - I have read a few of Richard Dawkin's books and various others of a scientific bent. I have also got a degree in science, so I am not lacking in logic just because I'm a Christian.

Actually I have studied the Bible, unlike many of it's critics, and am convinced of its' varicity. In Genesis 1:26,27: Then God said "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth and all the creatures that move along the ground. So God created man in His own image, in the imnage of God He created him; male and female He created them." God expected high standards of our treatment of man and all creatures. Have any of you atheists ever studied the Bible?

As a Christian (I think I have the right to be heard) I think Shambo should be killed. No animal life is more sacred than human. We should value animals but not worship them. Many people die in India due to this deluded belief. Humans are made in God's image and we are to care for animals with compassion but not worship.
