1. Richard Dawkins: 'Growth in creationist beliefs a problem for schools'
Comment #156322 by LeroiJones on April 7, 2008 at 10:34 am
I may have said this before (I can't remember) but when I was doing supply in a local primary school a few months ago I was shocked and appalled to see a church of England school teaching intelligent design as fact in a whole school assembly. It sent shivers down my spine watching how they did it. I've mentioned it to several of my friends including a lib dem councillor who don't seem to see why it's so bad.

Thanks for posting that Richard. Has this story got into any of the UK newspapers yet?

I think we should take issue when you hear them refering to 'why do people believe in *God*'. Surely it should be God(s) or something like that. The first statement seems to imply that God is real but some don't believe in it.

The last question they read out right at the end of the program about child abuse is mine:) A very proud moment!

Perhaps we should all go for a nice day out there when it's open. I'd be a laugh! We could indulge in a spot of binge drinking to make it funnier.

How many of us commented or complained then? I did but they haven't printed the comment. Is that fair considering they published such a biased article? I think we should all complain about poor standards of reporting. Lots of people will use this stuff as ammunition.

11. Creationists plan British theme park

I think this is really quite worrying. I thought until quite recently that creationism not very popular here especially as the Church of England is generally regarded as very wishy- washy but a few weeks ago when I was doing supply in a Cof E primary school I watched an assembly which taught ID as fact. It was very clever and sent chills down my spine. I enquired a little further and apparently there are a number of creationists doing that in midst. The way they do it is very discreet but it is happening and this park will be seen as encouragement by them. Scary stuff.
