1. Richard Dawkins' secular army must be stopped. God is behind some of our greatest art

Comment #160348 by scoobie on April 14, 2008 at 1:26 am

Falling at his feet? Worshipping? It all seems oddly reminiscent of the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem in the days before his Passion;
This was obviously Ravenhill's first draft and he really ought to have had another go. RT Davies obviously meant it as a metaphor and besides, people have been falling at the feet of revered people for millennia. So why should it be reminiscent specifically of a mythical godman riding two donkeys on his way to eventually being crucified? Is this just an example of shoe-horning in an ill-fitting story construct or does RD get to rise from the dead in this episode?

2. 'Expelled' ripped off Harvard's 'Inner Life of the Cell' animation

IDiots are well known for two things, criminal stupidity, and criminal dishonesty.

A quick look through the comments on that blog linked to above shows an outstanding collection of both.

3. Beware the Believers

Slightly baffled as to how this constitutes an April fool.

4. Expelled from Expelled: PZ story goes global

Comment #150555 by scoobie on March 27, 2008 at 5:26 am

Just a pity they didn't tell PZ at the time that they were expelling him according to a prearranged plan in order to make a point. I guess that's because they hadn't made that story up yet.

From reading the press release referenced above it seems they still can't stop lying, and they're still too stupid to realise how obvious their lies are.

Recognizing the opportunity to make a point of the inconvenience and pain that they, and others like them, have caused to numerous scientists and educators, the decision was made beforehand to deny Myers access to the film if he actually showed up.

In which universe does that make any sense?

6. Happy Birthday, Richard Dawkins!

Happy birthday and may you continue to change people's lives for the better for many years to come!

7. Richard Dawkins on The Alan Colmes Show

Comment #144412 by scoobie on March 16, 2008 at 2:53 am

If Prof Dawkins followed his own advice and followed the evidence, he'd have to conclude that Bible Jesus most likely never existed. But that would probably make his often extreme-sounding views (to the uneducated) sound completely off the scale, so I'm guessing that's why he treads lightly around this subject.
If using the word 'bullshit' is banned, imagine the amount of traffic that would screech to a halt if he were to say Jesus was mythical!
I wonder if he's tending towards the non-existence argument though, seeing as this time he did do a brief hatchet job on Jesus.

9. Beauty ad banned after Christian outcry

Comment #143827 by scoobie on March 14, 2008 at 1:28 pm

23 complaints is actually quite a few, and anyway it only takes 1 to get the watchdogs to investigate. Apple were forced to withdraw their "fastest PC in the world" claims a couple of years ago on the strength of 6 complaints.
In any case the ASA moves so slowly that I wouldn't be surprised if the ad had run its course before being banned anyway.

10. Lords Approve Abolition Of Blasphemy

Comment #139677 by scoobie on March 6, 2008 at 11:41 am

Lord Elton: I recommend that he reads a better and more recent book, The Dawkins Delusion?,

Oh dear, brains obviously not required for being a lord.

12. Murder plot against Danish cartoonist

Nice to see the cartoons out in the open! Shouldn't the words on that last one be: "Stop Stop we ran out of raisins"? ;-)

13. Sharia law in UK is 'unavoidable'

14. Are Darwin's Theories Fact or Faith Issues?

Thank you and god bless you both...

What?!!!!
Nearly spat my coffee out when he said that at the end.

15. The Pagan Christ

Comment #115896 by scoobie on January 25, 2008 at 2:13 am

Instead of looking back through time, why don't we put ourselves back in time when the only living things were prokaryotes which reproduce asexually and look forward. (Actually this is a huge head start because evolutionists can't provide an adequate explanation for the beginning of life, but we'll just skip over that for now and start at prokaryotes for the sake of this discussion).

Wow, prokaryotes? If you really want to find out how life works, as opposed to just lobbing big words around in an attempt to mask your ignorance, I can recommend a superb book called "Exploring the Way Life Works". It even contains diagrams of bacteria having sex!

Be warned though, you might have to change your religion to one in which God created microbes, 'cos that's what most life on this planet consists of ;).

16. A Letter From Hell

Comment #115869 by scoobie on January 25, 2008 at 12:53 am

Wow, this place of eternal torment really exists... Godtube, that is. I don't believe it. A collection of lamer videos it is hard to imagine.

17. Interview with Richard Dawkins: On Christmas

Comment #101218 by scoobie on December 20, 2007 at 5:28 am

Certainly a better interview than the one he did about The Root of all Evil a couple of years ago when Vine couldn't even get past his first question "Surely not *all* evil?" even though Dawkins conceded the point immediately (the title having been concocted by his producers). I remember yelling at the radio for him to move on but he couldn't hear me :)

18. Laugh at Sudan

Comment #98686 by scoobie on December 14, 2007 at 3:55 am

Wow, I never saw this guy before. What a breath of fresh air and how nice to see a little sarcasm used where it's warranted instead of the usual pussyfooting around. Peace! - especially to those in the religion of "peace"...

19. Double-checking Dawkins

Comment #94261 by scoobie on December 5, 2007 at 5:48 am

Um, he's not talking about "listening" to sequences of 1's and 0's as a sound file, he's talking about the instructions that blip the speaker when they're invoked.

20. Sam Harris at AAI 07

Comment #83494 by scoobie on October 30, 2007 at 8:03 am

Lots of people have a problem with "flying under the radar". Maybe this will help: the word "atheist" is analogous to a plane's signature picked up by enemy radar. When a theist's radar picks up the a-word, they get ready for battle. Far better to drop your intellectual bombs on them undetected by not announcing your presence in the first place.

21. Why are we Muslims so self-destructive?

Comment #73405 by scoobie on September 25, 2007 at 1:16 am

Can I just say that I too signed up using one of my standard net names. I wasn't aware that I would be offending any haughtier-than-thou net numpties when I did so. Chilllll.

I cannot speak for the others, but in Britain my own book sold out within four weeks of going on sale.

Congratulations!
