1. U.S. Congress Recognizing the importance of Christmas and the Christian faith

Comment #98846 by jefft0 on December 14, 2007 at 3:38 pm

For the record, the following text was struck from the final version. I wish I knew who got it struck:

"identify themselves as those who believe in the salvation from sin offered to them through the sacrifice of their savior, Jesus Christ, the Son of God, and who, out of gratitude for the gift of salvation, commit themselves to living their lives in accordance with the teachings of the Holy Bible;Whereas Christians"

2. Why Science Will Triumph Only When Theory Becomes Law

Comment #88135 by jefft0 on November 14, 2007 at 10:17 pm

This "debate" will only move forward when scientists learn how to respond directly to the lies as lies. RD has started to do this by describing his opponent's "willful mendacity". Other scientists also need to quit playing nice.
We're not up against someone who is "exploring a different theory", we're up against someone who is figuring out ways to lie. We don't need words any fancier than that.

4. A Face-Off Over Faith

Here's the link for streaming audio of the debate Wednesday, October 3rd. The press release says 7PM (Alabama time) but the streaming audio site says 8PM.

5. A Face-Off Over Faith

I hope RD follows through with the insight he showed in the article "Honest Mistakes or Willful Mendacity" and focuses on how religious intellectuals must of necessity lie to defend their claims. I hope RD holds true to his stance and shows - not how the apologist speaking to him is mistaken - but is deluded and manipulating.

6. VOTE on the 'Faith smackdown': Richard Dawkins vs Francis Collins

Comment #71700 by jefft0 on September 19, 2007 at 1:51 pm

Are the short quotes from Collins and Dawkins all there is? Or is there a link to another longer article where they are actually debating?

7. Good luck, Dawkins!

In a democracy, it's impossible to head down a road that supposes people might not be able to make reasonable decisions based on available facts. Otherwise, this could be used as an argument that their votes don't count. So, since all the facts are freely available that astrology is a bunch of bunk, there is no way to outlaw it or protect people from it because they are purported to be rational citizens that must be able to decide for themselves. To start "protecting" them from their own bad decisions is to head down the road of "protecting" them from the burden of deciding who to vote for. It won't happen.

8. Islamic creationist group launches glitzy, global blitz

"What I'm saying is true. They cannot disprove it."

For the millionth time, "they cannot disprove it" does not mean "what I'm saying is true". However, "they cannot disprove it" does mean "what I'm saying cannot be tested" so a huckster like this can trick people into believing it's true.
