1 "As I find more evidence I will try and keep you updated, as i hope you ill update me as well if you find anything else."

2 "I don't think it is in the same league as spiritualists etc."

Er.... thanks for the offer of MORE evidence we will all consider it along side the other evidence. if that is you can find the published results alongside the detailed and repeatable methods employed that would permit proper scrutiny and confirmation by others.

Sorry to ask for that last bit but thats where it all goes tits up and is why people stand around arguing about whether it works or not.

Its really not much to ask for, if only someone could provide it science would be there saying, hey its true it really does work, now lets find out how.

Hmmmm wonder why it is why nobody can do that simple thing and put an end to the argument for good?.
Could it be that it is in the same league as spiritualism after all? no better than pouring goats piss over somebodys head or throwing chicken bones on the floor. I think so.

Re Darwin2

How can you say that because it is not possible to prove that human consciousness does not continue to exist after death in some wishy washy fantasy world that exists in your imagination, it must have a 50% chance of being true?

Lets assume someone was to invite me to lay down beneath the tracks of a tank so they could run over me and that they assured me I would not be injured in the process. If I refused the test and walked away would it be reasonable of me to accept I would have had a fifty fifty chance of surviving the test because it remained unproved? Of course not!!

It is clear from a simple look at the physics that my chances of survival would have been almost zero, (I say almost in case there was some fluke with the local topography).

By the same token we can look at the human brain and from the effects of injuries to it. We can see that emotions, language, intelligence and consciousness are all simply processes within its physical form. It is reasonable to assume therfore that when the organ ceases to funtion so does its conciousness.

I think it is very clear that the scales are weighted very heavily indeed against conciousness beyond the grave, but I think it would be presumptuous to try to put a value on it.

3. New age therapies cause 'retreat from reason'

We have laws to protect vulnerable members of society from people that might exploit them. We need new laws to protect the gulible from these lunatics, whether they are self deluded or simply plain scoundrels.
I used to work with one, he preyed on weak and simple people, waving pebbles, lucky charms and other nonsense at them claiming healing and psychic powers. Now he has taken seriously ill - where is he? you guessed it turning his back on the nonsense and grasping everything that modern medicine can offer tightly with both hands.
I wonder how many poor souls he previously told that they didnt need it?
