We have to stand up and be counted! If we start making all sorts of excuses as to why we are not loved by religious folk, we have lost all strength in argument.
I take exception to Sam Harris' use of the racist's use of the N word being similar to Atheist A word. There is nothing wrong with Atheist as a description of somebody who doesn't accept the concept of god.

I like the idea of not pulling punches. The religious fanatics spout their fire and brimstone stuff and usually nobody says anything critical. Mustn't say anything too upsetting about them or us atheists won't be effective in convincing them to stop being deluded! Unfortunately the truth hurts and sometimes there's only straight talk that makes sense.

Hitchens and Dawkins are YES bigtime! Pussyfooting around with so-called religious moderates is what has got us to the point of people actually thinking that they can create a theocracy in the USA. Sometimes one has to hit the donkey on the nose to get his attention before you give it a carrot to move on into modernity

Sam says it clearer than almost anybody else without being too esoteric as some would prefer.
