1. Creationist critics get their comeuppance

Comment #243560 by andysin on September 6, 2008 at 8:06 am

I did some work with these same strains of E. coli for my final year undergrad project (my supervisor has worked closely with Lenski in the past) so I know a bit about all of Lenski's work. His experiments are so brilliantly simple and the results are clear indications of evolution in action. I did a similar experiment over 120 generations and saw massive and clear adaptations evolving in these strains. Anybody wishing to see evidence of evolution only need to be pointed to the Lenski Lab web page and if they still deny that it's evidence of evolution then they will never see it.

2. Atheism could be science's contribution to religion

I know Matthew Cobb on a personal level from my time studying Zoology at The University of Manchester. He's a perfect example of why being an atheist absolutely does not make you a bad person.

3. B.C. health official says mumps outbreak began with unimmunized religious group

I guess this is where the argument of 'I've no problem with religious groups as long as they don't preach to me' kind of falls down. Bloody ignorant.

4. Ken Ham in Leicester April 2008

I'm from preston. It angers me that they have a creationist speaker there and more that I can't go. I hope somebody with some sense attends, I can't see it being as hard to criticize as a Ken Ham event.

5. Girl, 16, dies after hijab dispute with father

I don't know if anybody is interested but I found this forum on this topic and posted (under andysin) simply because everybody was excusing religion in this, some even saying the crime was sexist in nature. What did I get for it? Banned from the forum. I don't really care all that much but this sort of cencorship doesn't leave me much hope for freedom of speech and healthy debate.

I would encourage others to post, even if you do get banned then at least there is more than one opinion and people won't just think my opinion is that of a crazy hobo....

6. Colouring book warns kids of pedophile priests

Comment #94998 by andysin on December 7, 2007 at 6:24 am

Surely they're shooting themselves in the foot here? Kids can form opinions easily and surely from this they will learn to not trust the priests/clergy that are supposed to be informing them what to believe. I can only see it leading children to question the religion and hopefully abandon it.
