2. Bill Maher's Religulous Opens Today

Comment #259952 by csquared1 on October 4, 2008 at 9:08 am

Attention folks. There might be a huge bombshell in this movie.

I haven't seen it yet. But in the NPR interview with Maher and Charles, they mention a priest at the vatican who said that hell was nonsense and that he didn't believe in the Jesus story.

Bill Maher interviewed him outside the gates of the vatican. And he agreed with Maher that the Vatican was opulent. Apparently this clergyman is the head of Latin (or something) at the Vatican.

Can you imagine the ramifications from this interview alone? I guess this guy better polish his resume.

I can't wait to see this movie.

Intelligent people 'less likely to believe in God'

In other news, fat people more likely to die of heart disease.

4. Sam Harris debate with Rabbi David Wolpe

Comment #107982 by csquared1 on January 5, 2008 at 6:26 pm

After skimming through the comments, I am shocked that no one seems to be adressing the objectionable comments about the Holocaust the Rabbi made. He stated that the Holocaust was the fault of the growth of secularism in society.

It was a disgusting and offensive comment that should have been thoroughly denounced immediately on this forum. How did the rest of you miss it?

5. Allan Gregg interviews Richard Dawkins

Philosophy though is much broader than god.

I agree. I actually took an introductory philosophy course in university. And I don't recall God being mentioned at all. There is certainly considerable depth to the subject. As I wrote above, I am sure its a fascinating topic to study in greater detail.

Most atheists dismiss religious belief without reading philosophy books. I would suggest this makes us the smart ones. We realized that religion is just another superstition without wasting hours studying philosophy.

Although I am sure its fascinating, I just don't have the time.

7. God's honest truth?

Why the concern that this law will infringe on the rights of children in Sweden?

Doesn't Sweden have a constitution? And perhaps a Bill of Rights as well? If this law were to discriminate against children couldn't Swedish courts strike it down?

And don't you think that politicians in Sweden did an extensive analysis of the constitutionality of such a law before proposing it?

So what exactly are you bitching about?

I swear, some people lack basic common sense.

8. In honour of Dan Dennett

Comment #80696 by csquared1 on October 22, 2007 at 4:50 pm

It has to be said that Dan Dennett is an icon.

Unfortunately, he doesn't receive the attention or praise from the general public lavished on Dawkins, Harris & Hitchens. Hopefully this award will begin to change that.

9. Richard Dawkins receives the Deschner Prize

A great honour, Professor Dawkins. Congratulations!

And a wonderful speech as well.

10. VOTE on the 'Faith smackdown': Richard Dawkins vs Francis Collins

Has anyone here checked the vote count recently? This is a complete rout. Not that I am surprised.

11. RELIGULOUS: A Conversation with Bill Maher and Larry Charles

Comment #70056 by csquared1 on September 14, 2007 at 12:09 am

The article is mistaken. Larry Charles had nothing to do with Seinfeld, that was Larry DAVID.

crumbledfingers, Larry Charles was a writer on Seinfeld. Larry David was co-creator(with Jerry Seinfeld) and head writer.
