1. The History Channel might do something right

Comment #176596 by CShepGuy on May 7, 2008 at 5:32 pm

I agree that the language really needs to be fixed. Before I understood the evolutionary process, I knew animals adapted to their environment, and for some reason I just accepted it, and was satisfied with that much info. I hadn't learned yet to question just how this occurred and how it was known. The poor language cited above leads to this weak understanding or total lack of understanding. I assume that many of the people who don't accept evolution as plausible have just been told that it happened in these simple terms and they think "why should I believe that?" I hope this show gets into some detail of natural selection.

2. The Neanderthal Debate

Comment #175194 by CShepGuy on May 4, 2008 at 7:42 pm

This was refreshing to watch, and its lack of religious reference made me realize that I sometimes visit this site just to get myself angry at religion. I was cringing waiting for the journalist to ask about evolution and creation, and I'm happy he didn't.

3. Truly Bizarre : Indians Throw Babies 50ft From Roof To Thank God.

They appear to be holding the sheet tight as well, causing a totally abrupt stop when the baby hits it.

4. Religion a figment of human imagination

I accept this imagination argument for all gods except the real one which I believe in.

5. Judge orders La. school district to stop Bible giveaways

A basic history of world religions will turn most open-minded people into atheists pretty quick.

7. Open Letter to a victim of Ben Stein's lying propaganda

On Rotten Tomatoes.com, which compiles many different movie reviews and gives movies a percentage score, Expelled earned 0% among their top reveiwers, which I have never seen before even for the worst movies I've ever seen. They all ripped it apart. It was reassuring.

Seeing such a strong consensus made me think that maybe the only people that this movie will impress are so far gone already that not much new damage will be done.

8. The Atheist Next Door

Comment #158565 by CShepGuy on April 10, 2008 at 6:49 pm

NEWS: Atheists can actually be decent people. Either that or we found a family that's really good at faking it.

There are millions of people in the US who are atheists or who care about religion so little that they aren't even here complaining about it with us.

9. CEAI Action Alert for Science Teachers

Reading this I got the feeling that reaching out to Science teachers could only backfire on this guy.

10. My quest to get de-baptised

Comment #152978 by CShepGuy on March 31, 2008 at 7:29 pm

Not sure if this was covered already...but is there any evidence that churches in the US claim baptized people as current members? It does seem like a move they would try. I hope I'm not on a list somewhere helping them pretend they still have a lot of members. I live in an area where religion does seem to be dying slowly along with most of it's adherents.

11. Lying for Jesus?

Comment #148745 by CShepGuy on March 23, 2008 at 7:03 pm

Mark Mathis, a producer of the film who attended the screening, said that "of course" he had recognized Dr. Dawkins, but allowed him to attend because "he has handled himself fairly honorably, he is a guest in our country and I had to presume he had flown a long way to see the film."

See- All PZ had to do was "handle himself honorably" and they would have let him into the movie. Clearly he was reeking havoc out in the lobby. I would't have let him in either. That guy is an animal. Any word on whether he had his spiked bat with him?

12. A Letter From Hell

Comment #133731 by CShepGuy on February 26, 2008 at 3:56 pm

Hey, I watched a really upsetting video on YouTube once about people visiting schools in the Southern US to teach kids crap like people and dinosaurs living together, and other religion-based nonsense. I can't seem to find it again, though, and I really wanted to show it to more people. If anyone knows what I am talking about, let me know.

One more sarcastic comment on here and I am blocking this website from myself.

14. Add another flea to the list...

Comment #133154 by CShepGuy on February 25, 2008 at 5:59 pm

More proof that faith is really weak, or even fake in many cases. True faith would not require constant reassurance from books like this. It wouldn't require any at all.

15. Fox News Attacks 'Godless' Free Thought Radio

Comment #116799 by CShepGuy on January 27, 2008 at 1:15 pm

One of the most insulting things to all of us is to say "fair and balanced" over and over, assuming we will just believe it. This reminds me of some environmental gems during the Bush administration, like the "Clear Skies" initiative (which weakens the Clean Air act), and the "Healthy Forests" plan which makes it easier to clear cut forests. Is there a good term for this type of deception?

16. A Letter From Hell

Comment #116374 by CShepGuy on January 26, 2008 at 10:51 am

Isn't there a way to streamline this process, other than looking through some huge book of names? Shouldn't god have all these names in his head already? What about people with the same names? Does he have a book of social security numbers?

The most bizarre part about this is that if no one tells you about Jesus, you're going to hell.
