Comment #98279 by Mewtwo_X on December 13, 2007 at 12:16 pm
I stand corrected by Nefrubyr.
It appears there has been recognition of other rleigions and their holidays. So a resolution recognizing Christmas and Christians is fair.
I would note however that the resolution contents still seem incredibly biased (READ: Incredibly disproportionate in respect and claims about the benefits of the religion and religious holiday) towards Christianity...

I'd ask when resolutions for any of the other organized religions and their established religions were going to come out, but we already know the answer to that one...
...Are they just trying to deliberately thumb their noses at separation of Church and State?
3. Hitler, Stalin, Mao, etc. were atheists, and they were terrible! Answer that!
Comment #82069 by Mewtwo_X on October 25, 2007 at 4:03 pm
"What do Atheists have to do with Atheism? Stick to the subject, please..."
4. You can't be moral without God!
Comment #82068 by Mewtwo_X on October 25, 2007 at 4:01 pm
"That's your assumption. I don't have to defend against assumptions; I dismiss them. Care to try and prove that no natural explanation could ever be a foundation for morality?"
5. Religion is not incompatible with Science: 'Non-Overlapping Magisteria'
Comment #82066 by Mewtwo_X on October 25, 2007 at 3:59 pm
Can't argue against this one, as I accept it.
6. Atheism is a religion and you're as bad as the fundamentalists
Comment #82065 by Mewtwo_X on October 25, 2007 at 3:58 pm
"Your definition of religion is incorrect, although you are right that some Atheists can act as poorly as Fundamentalists."
7. That's not MY God or Religion you're criticising
Comment #82064 by Mewtwo_X on October 25, 2007 at 3:54 pm
"That's the god you've presented to me. Perhaps you aren't explaining him well?"
8. I Don't Have Enough Faith to be an Atheist
Comment #82063 by Mewtwo_X on October 25, 2007 at 3:53 pm
"Atheists acknowledge the possibility for error, but argue against it. The relgious usually do not, or accept the possibility and use emotional appeals against it. This difference is one of the problem with religions."
9. Science and Religion BOTH make faith claims
Comment #82062 by Mewtwo_X on October 25, 2007 at 3:49 pm
"Religion uses faith, Science uses axioms. There is a difference."
10. Arguments Against Evolution
Comment #82061 by Mewtwo_X on October 25, 2007 at 3:48 pm
"Evolution is unrelated to Atheism. Non-sequitur."
11. A Rational Universe Implies a Creator, Science points towards Theism
Comment #82060 by Mewtwo_X on October 25, 2007 at 3:47 pm
"The word 'Law' in Natrual Law is a metaphor for commonalities seen in nature. To use the phrase 'law' to imply 'lawgiver' is begging the question. As to whether or not rational universe implies a designer, I note that we make the universe rational for our conception. Once again, the claim begs the question."
12. Pascal's Wager
Comment #82057 by Mewtwo_X on October 25, 2007 at 3:43 pm
"Does a god care that I do not believe in its existence? Unknown."
13. Arguments From Design, First Cause, Something Rather Than Nothing, Fundamental Constants
Comment #82054 by Mewtwo_X on October 25, 2007 at 3:40 pm
"To ask why, you must first ask if the question makes sense. In this case, I claim it does not."
14. You can't prove that you love someone, so don't expect proof of God
Comment #82051 by Mewtwo_X on October 25, 2007 at 3:38 pm
"Use EEG experiements or design standardized models of human behaviour to determine significant evidence of love. Your statement is therefore false."
15. Science can answer how questions but only religion can answer why questions
Comment #82050 by Mewtwo_X on October 25, 2007 at 3:36 pm
"Philosophy also can answer why questions. Atheists use philosophy over religion."
16. If you don't accept the supernatural, you obviously think life is depressing, meaningless and cold
Comment #82049 by Mewtwo_X on October 25, 2007 at 3:35 pm
"Only if you force meaningfulness into an objective position. Meaningfulness, like science is intersubjective and makes sense only to cognitive beings."
17. The Transcendental Argument for God
Comment #82047 by Mewtwo_X on October 25, 2007 at 3:33 pm
"Your second sentence does not follow and seems to invoke Universal Skepticism, while ignoring the fact that it can apply to everything. What makes you so sure that you can trust a god to give a stable foundation for reason? Couldn't it give you a propagandistic logic instead?"
18. Was religion beneficial to the development of society? Is it now?
Comment #82044 by Mewtwo_X on October 25, 2007 at 3:29 pm
"Religion provides benefits and roles to society that could easily be done with secular institutions. In centuries past, it was the choice of the people to make religion responsible for these social roles."
